This is by far the cheapest (price) keyboard I've ever owned, and by far the best. All the buttons work too with my Windows XP Pro, ALL OF THEM!!!!! I replaced a much more expensive keyboard with this one and I'm happy I did. It's smaller, doesn't take up a lot of room, NO software to download like the others, and everything works out of the box. I'd spend twice as much in the store for an inferior model. Plus, if you spill something on it, it's not history like my old one.

I unplug my old keyboard, plug this in and everything works with no effort whatsoever. The keys have a nice feel and are for the most part well-positioned. The block of keys above the arrow keys are a bit weird but Delete is still in the lower left and I could get used to rest. I also like how there's no extra space on the sides to bloat the keyboard size.
(edit) One thing I noticed after a while, however is that it has a pretty bad "multiple keypress" problem, where key presses stop registering if you're holding too many keys at once. This can be a problem in games when you're often holding down movement keys.

This is a great replacement for my 10 year old eMachines keyboard. PS/2, NOT USB, so it swapped out great. I have enough USB's to confuse my PC as it is. There's no CD-ROM so I suppose it's plug'n play. Please note: When swapping out PS/2 devices you MUST turn your PC OFF first! This keyboard is EXTREMELY QUIET compared to my old one. It also claims to be spill resistant. I'm not going to challenge this claim.... This was a great puchase @ $14.00, Thanks Amazon!

I love this keyboard. It's cheap, simple, and smooth. My only problem I had with it was getting used to the new positioning of the Home, Insert, Delete, End, Page Up, and Page Down keys since they are at a perpendicular angle that of most other keyboards. It's a great keyboard, but may take some time getting used for certain tasks.

I have used many keyboards and, for the price, this is the best by far. I like the key action, in that it doesn't feel like a cheap keyboard, and the best part is that you don't need to install Microsoft IntelliType to make every key on the keyboard work! Just plug it in and it works! The only minor cons to this keyboard are 1) the cord is shorter than on most keyboards and 2) I wouldn't mind if the keyboard was a little bigger. For the price, I'll get used to it! I highly recommend this keyboard!

He hooked this up easily without a problem, and though he had trouble at first with the key strike setting....once that was set properly, the keyboard works like a charm. Great product, easy to set up, HIGHLY RECOMMEND! And, btw, SUPER QUICK shipping to an alternate address, with no problems!

This keyboard is a very good value. It has only a PS2 connection, so if you need to use USB you will need a converter plug. I needed a PS2, so it was OK for me. Also, I deducted one star because the cord for connecting to the computer is a little shorter than the one I had, but if your computer isn't too far from your keyboard, you'll be ok. Keys are quiet and require minimal pressure. Has a top row of quick link keys including Favorites, Mail, Homepage and Music and others. Nothing fancy, but if you need a simple, quiet keyboard this one will work well for you.
25.) A good keyboard
Reviewed by: geek SF, CA
Rating:
Good, but just short of great. The key action is nice and light, the low-travel makes it very easy for your fingers to really fly across the keys, and pretty quietly, too. I like the fact that they are trying to make keyboards that are more spill resistant, because I have killed more than one keyboard by spilling a drink on it. I have no idea how well the spill-resistance is, though, as I am not about to willfully go testing it out or anything.
The profile is very thin, and the footprint is also smaller than average. Personally, I would not have minded having the keyboard be a little bit wider, because in order to save space, Microsoft has re-arranged the insert-delete-home-end-pgup pgdn keys to be in a two vertical lines instead of the more common two horizontal lines. I use those keys quite a bit for text file navigation while programming, a learning how to use this new configuration by touch took me a week or so, which was kind of annoying.
Another small niggle is the lack of a usb adapter. Do doubt, it helps keep the price down, but I would really love to be able to use this keyboard with my iBook as well as my PC, but in order to do that, I'll have to buy a third-party adapter.
And, as always, the inclusion of the extra keys at the top of the keyboard are almost useless. I say almost, because I do actually use the calculator key often enough, but the rest are nothing but a waste of space.
Despite these complaints, I still think the one thing that Microsoft still does well is hardware. Their keyboards and mice are pretty solid. As a basic, no frills keyboard, this is much better than you would usually get so for cheap.
26.) What more could you need?

It's a keyboard.. It's key action is light and springy - great for touch-typers.. It's sleak and light and has all the keys where you'd expect them. In addition there are some 'function' keys along the top. I never really got on with these on other keyboards but at this price I don't care if they're there (and I actually may use buttons like 'mute' and 'volume up/down' if I remember they're there!).
Overall, for the price, who can argue that this isn't a terrific buy. The only reason I don't give it 5/5 is because it doesn't type for me!! (and I would like to see a gel wrist-rest attachment, which would be nice).

My Dell keyboard had a sticking key, so I got this one. It has a MUCH better feel than the Dell keyboard. It is very quiet (and I was surprised by one reviewer's complaint that it was noisy).
The only complaint I have is with the feet that raise up the rear of the keyboard. They are shorter than I would wish. But if your chair is at the proper height, this should be no problem.
28.) Cheap Solid Keyboard!

I have used most of Microsoft's keyboards. With a typing speed of 180wpm (Mavis Beacon) and a computer related job - keyboards are my life.
I got this new keyboard with my new Dell system at work last week. At first I thought these keyboards would be pretty crappy because of their $14 price tag. The first thing you notice when you type on these keyboards is how quiet they sound... Well, that goes away with a few hours of use (for me anyways). After a few days of use the keys really loosen up and become pretty loud so if you are looking for a quiet keyboard, this isn't it. However, the smoothness of the keys allows for some pretty fast typing. I bought one for home and have been using this keyboard as my main keyboard for a few days because I liked it so much. It is pretty compact, doesn't require any drivers for the special keys to work, I like the build and ease of key presses.
I'm surprised how long and how fast I can type without the "wearing" out feel I got with other normal keyboards. This keyboard will remain my "main" keyboard for many months at work and at home.
Compared to the Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000 - this keyboard is much more quiet and takes much less desk space. There is also more keypress length (whereas the Comfort Curve 2000 has a notebook feel). This keyboard is significantly lighter as well but it has well built/placed rubber grips so it does not slide on the desk no matter how hard/fast you type.
I'd definitely recommend this keyboard for anyone looking for a well built cheap keyboard.
29.) TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY?

Hello, world! I recently purchased this product after my old and dusty keyboard's S key stopped working. This is an excellent product and was delivered to my door early to my surprise. It was fairly inexpensive and although my monitor is fairly new, it still used the old PS/2 connectors for the mouse and keyboard. To avoid the extra costs of an adaptor, purchasing a PS/2 keyboard was my finest choice. The Microsoft Wired PS/2 Keyboard was evidently the perfect keyboard choice for me!
Contrary to what many other reviewers say, my keyboard did not make much noise when it was in use. In fact, it was quiterer than my previous VAIO keyboard. The shortcut keys on the top of the keyboard, especially the Calculator option, are very useful for everyday computing. The first time I plugged in the keyboard, the shortcut keys were very slow, although the second or third time I pressed one of the shortcuts, it worked instantly. Some of the shortcuts were not compatible with my computer, although they may work with others.
The keyboard was shipped in a standard medium-sized Amazon box, with air bags inside.
All in all, the Microsoft Wired PS/2 Keyboard is the quintessential choice of keyboards for anyone looking for a PS/2 keyboard that is cheap but very efficient.
30.) Quality Keyboard

Unlike many people, I just want a standard keyboard with good touch and a PS2 (not USB) plug. Although this model has some custom keys for email, brower activation, music, etc, I didn't bother with them. The keys are a standard layout except for the Home/End cluster which is vertical instead of horizontal. That places the Insert key where the Delete key usually is, but it hasn't been much of a problem. For the price, I think this is a good buy, and much better than other $15 keyboards.

Pros: Good typing feel. Nice pre-programmed buttons for volume, calculator, and MyComputer.
Cons: Cheap build: the little legs in the back for tilting the keyboard break off right away. The home, end, insert, etc. keys are awkwardly placed.
Definitely not worth more than about $10! But if you don't tilt your keyboard, you might not think it's bad at all.
