have had this for 3 yrs now. works great. easy installation. sometimes the receiver doesn't pick up keyboard/mouse signal when there is no line of sight path (like when the rcvr is hidden beneath the table). but that's something u can work around by plaing it on the table/monitor. otherwise works great. not sure abt 30$ price on amazon though!
2.) Maybe I got lucky

I read all the reviews on this product and most are terrible -- my story is a little bit different. I bought this product from Walmart after my previous mouse died in 2004. I probably wouldn't have purchased a cheap set like this (30 bucks) if it wasn't midnight and I had work to finish. It is now August 2010 and the product still works like it did from day one. I'm a computer programmer and I'm on my computer a good bit of the time. The characters are still easily visible on the keys, and the only thing noticeable is where paint has worn off on parts of the mouse buttons. One reviewer complained about the keyboard not picking up all the key presses. I had this same issue, but was because I had stuff piled all in front of the receiver. I might just be the lucky one, but I really couldn't ask for a better mouse/keyboard set.
3.) I love this set. And so do the people i've bought it for.

I have bought 5 sets of this kind and each one has worked flawlessly. Not only do you not need drivers but you can even use it when you need to "rebuild" your computer crom support. A lot of poeple complain about "oh i need to that the reciever 4" away from my keyboard to get it to work." Well Actually the way the recievers are you have to have them "higher" then the mouse and keyboard. I have my reciever on top of my monitor and i get great reception half way across the room. I love this set, my mother, paster, wife and one of my florida friends love theres too. Like i said no drivers needed and works like a champ.
4.) OK for a cheap wireless keyboard!

Got same model from WM @ a cheaper price. Need to replace batteries for the mouse after 2 weeks & keyboard 2 months even if I place them 10 feet way from the usb receiver.
Pro: cheap, same as wired keyboard (if you have new batteries (2weeks))
con: need to turn off the mouse to calibrate the keyboard with the receiver 2 times in the last 3 months; problem with my wifi system (802.11b,g); can't place the mouse,keyboard & receiver near metal;
5.) Works fine in my home theater PC

I bought this set at a local store over 18 months ago.
I use it with my home theater PC, at a distance of about 13 ft between my couch and the back of the computer case.
I have been very happy with the set, under both Vista x64 and now Win 7 x64. There was no need for any drivers to be installed.
I use Sanyo eneloop batteries, and the battery life is a few months. The mouse eats them faster, but that's expected.
The only signal problem I have had is with the keyboard. Sometimes keys tend to get repeated too quickly. Nothing in the Windows keyboard settings or BIOS can fix it. I don't type a whole lot on the HTPC - I mostly use the mouse to start programs and movies, so this problem doesn't bother me much. But I might be less happy if I was typing documents or code.
6.) Adverse side effects

It is an effective combination at first, but a couple of months into using it the mouse started acting weird. I also noticed that once I started using it my screensaver started becoming unreliable; sometimes it never came on. I stopped using the mouse for a while and the screensaver worked fine again. A couple of days ago, I decided I was tired of using the laptop mouse while using it at home, so I plugged the mouse back in, and the screensaver stopped working again. I have had no problems with the keyboard, but why would you buy a keyboard/mouse combo if one part doesn't work?
7.) Keyboard fine, mouse AWFUL!

This set came with a computer that we bought last August. While we've had no problems with the keyboard (and have only used one set of batteries for it during all the time we've had this), the mouse has been a major headache. It tracks slowly, eats batteries (the 2 days is hardly much of an exaggeration), and even with new batteries it can be slow and unresponsive. It's a terrible mouse to use for any kind of gaming (esp. FPS or flying games, or any games in which timing is critical). The tech support is virtually non-existent, as is user information-the manual doesn't indicate how to tell the batteries are low (I guess you're supposed to figure that out based on reduced performance, or that you've been using the computer for a week, whichever comes first). We plan to keep the keyboard but replace the mouse!
8.) Mouse works great, keyboard doesn't work at all

I bought this combo a few months ago, and I've never been able to get the keyboard to be seen by Windows. When I loaded the drivers for the keyboard's extra keys, I can get those to be seen by Windows, but the rest of the keyboard doesn't respond at all. At least the mouse is working ok, and for $30 for a wireless optical mouse, its not half bad.
9.) An okay, but not good keyboard/mouse set

My old keyboard had died on me, so I immediately needed a new one seeing that I use the computer quite a bit. I decided on getting a wireless one, and looked through the Sunday ads to see what kinds of deals that I could find. I had originally another keyboard/mouse set in mind to buy, which was at Office Depot, but I was at Walmart for other things, and just happened to see this combo for an even better deal, so I got this one.
This one is okay, but there are some things that I don't like about it. On the keyboard, there is no caps lock, num lock, and scroll lock indicator, which isn't too bad, until the caps lock accidentally gets on, and you are trying to type in a case sensitive password that is returning an error message when you are unknowingly typing it in caps when the password is lower case and vice verse. Also, the extra keys at the top get stuck easily. The volume up, volume down, and volume mute keys on my keyboard got stuck quickly since I use them frequently, and I have to press down hard to get those keys to work. Other than these, the keyboard works decently, and the batteries last a long time in it, as I haven't had to change the batteries since I got it.
As far as the mouse goes, it eats batteries quickly. I didn't expect the batteries to run down as quick as they did. I have to change them about every 10 days, which is a pain and costs a lot of money for batteries. Another thing that I don't like is that the mouse pointer will randomly jump around the edges of the screen quickly, which has caused me to accidentally close windows that I didn't want closed, really irritating me. The only good thing that I can think of about the mouse is that it is comfortable in my hand.
All in all, I would not recommend this keyboard/mouse set. You would be better off spending a little bit more on another one, something that I wish I would have done in the first place.
10.) Keyboard problems...

Just when I thought that my set was pretty darn awesome I decided to throw away the box. I only had it for like 3 days. After crumpling the box and throwing it away, IMMEDIATELY my keyboard started acting funny! Ironic eh? It goes in spurts of registering keys. Here is some of what it did while I was writing to my brother:
I had to [get wireless] 'cause my cords hang by my feet nd Ikeep kicking htme
Ma, i sware itregisters osme keys ooner than othersto
Whih auses me to hit backspe which of ourse dosn't work1
You sewhat i'm putnig up wth/!
So that sucks... Right now it's working just fine again... My computer has 3GB of RAM and a 2Ghz Processor with 2Ghz Bus speed so I don't think it's my computers fault... All in all, I'm not too happy with it any longer!

First you better make sure you know touch typing if you buy this keyboard. IF you don't you are in trouble. The keys wore off after two weeks. My major keys have nothing on them anymore. The ones I never use are holding up nicely.
Second this thing has been a nightmare. It leaks. That was the only conclusion that three computer shop owners, two gurus and I could come to. The mouse interferes with the keyboard. The keyboard causes problems with the mouse. IF you only operate one you MIGHT note the might work.
You lose the mouse or the keyboard when it feels like it. You lose the USB connection when it feels like it. The PS/2 connection is picking up the USB wireless signal for some strange reason and MUST be pointed away from the wireless keyboard and the mouse.
AND NONE OF IT MAKES SENSE. This is a horrible system. It is cheaply made and it acts as if it is cheaply made. NO I would never resell it on Amazon because some other fool might buy it. I did. I will also never buy another Micro anything again as long as I live. Neither will any of the shop owners or the gurus.
Now excuse me I have to go pull that %%@%@$# mouse out of the wall where I just threw it.
By the way if you put the mouse into the wall? The keyboard works great.
13.) Horrible

The range on this wireless desktop is horrible, I have to have the receiver 4 inches away from the mouse for it to pick up anything at all. The keyboard isn't too bad, the only thing its missing is mac compatibility. The mouse is what bring this combo down, the battery life is around 2 days, so you will have to get 2 sets of rechargeable batterys and always keep one charged so you can switch them when one set dies.
14.) Should not be marketed

Cheap and OK looking but... the mouse and keyboard seem to interfere and while typing one might suddenly find that a right click command has been given and you are merrily cutting and pasting and switching windows. Almost impossible to type more than a sentence without a hitch. Product should be withdrawn.
