While it certainly isn't a cheap keybooard, the diNovo Edge for the the Mac is a beautiful keyboard and will compliment your mac. I used to have a msft bluetooth keyboard that I used and it stuck out like a sore thumb next to my iMac (in addition, it didn't have the Mac specific keys like cmd). Once I got my Edge, all was harmonized in the world again. Only con for this product is that if your keyboard power dies, it takes a few minutes to do a quick recharge. Therefore I try to put the keyboard in the cradle at the end of each week to prevent this from happening.

Logitech must have an amazing design team. Like many of their other products I've used, this keyboard is stunning to look at, thoughtfully designed, and comfortable to use. The key action is the best I've experienced. The thinness eliminates wrist strain. The inclusion of the innovative TouchDisc makes it possible for me to type without strain in my favorite position (comfortably leaning back in my chair with my feet up on my desk and the keyboard resting on my lap). I also appreciate the extra touches: the music player controls, the delete forward key, the volume slider, and the Mac sleep button.
I had a couple issues out of the box: the brightness keys didn't work and scrolling on the TouchDisc was a bit clunky. But after I downloaded 2.7.0 of the Logitech Control Center software and spent a bit of time tweaking the tracking and scrolling speed and acceleration, both issues were resolved. (Update: I just got another one of these to pair with an iMac that already had 2.7.0 installed. Again, the brightness keys didn't work, but this time I couldn't upgrade to try to solve it. After trying many things, I finally uninstalled and then reinstalled 2.7.0, and that solved the issue. Strange little software bug, I guess. The other thing I noticed when I installed the first keyboard is that 2.6.0 doesn't recognize that an upgrade is available, so I had to go to [...] to download it manually.)
Unlike some other reviewers who miss the numeric keypad, I actually prefer keyboards that don't have one. After many years of using laptops, I'm used to that configuration and find keyboards that still include a keypad to be too wide.
I'm actually liking this keyboard much more than I thought I would. Kudos, Logitech!

First of all, I have the Dinovo Edge for PC that I bought when the new aluminum iMac came out 2 years ago. I picked up the Mac edition when I got myself a second iMac. The price is a little cheaper for the Mac edition but now the functionality has been improved over the PC edition. Since this review is on the Mac edition I'll focus on that.
For me, I wanted a wireless keyboard where I don't have to swap out batteries. This is basically the only keyboard that offers a rechargeable base station. I usually go about a month before I have to recharge. And I never turn off the keyboard. The base station sits in my cabinet hidden until I need to charge it. I just plug it in the wall, plop the keyboard onto the base station and let it charge up. I don't like having to take out batteries and put in the recharger and then have to put back batteries which I was doing before when I had a PC.
I use an MX revolution wireless mouse from Logitech for both my iMacs and it meets the same rechargeable base station requirement. However with that mouse I need to plug in a USB receiver. Luckily for the Dinovo edge it is Bluetooth! Never had a problem with the Bluetooth dropping out or synching, works flawlessly.
The only thing I would have liked is having a 10 key section. The trackpad and volume slider on the keyboard is nice, but I use a better mouse anyway. I could see it being used on a mac mini for a home theater setup though where you occasionally might need a mouse.
The really nice thing is that it matches the aluminum iMac in design. You can lower the price a little by selling the keyboard that Apple gives you in the box. It will still beat any other keyboard out there. I also forgot to mention that this keyboard is SLIM!! It's seriously sexy.

This keyboard is absolutely fantastic. I don't believe that I have ever typed on a more easy-to-use keyboard. I have owned an older version of the diNove wireless keyboard for my old Windows Laptop, and I loved it as well. It's almost difficult to describe in words how simplistic the keyboard is. It makes it extremely easy to type away without missing a keystroke, the extra features such as the iTunes quick buttons, and the trackpad plus audio quick button make it even that much better. Above these, the Bluetooth integration with you Mac system makes it that much better. No longer do you have to plug in a small wireless receiver into your USB port and take up a spot, instead, when your laptop or keyboard come in range of each other they will automatically sync after having been synced a primary time.
I would give this six stars out of five if I could.
I am currently using the Wireless Mighty Mouse by Mac in combination with this keyboard and together they are fantastic!
I hope that everyone else loves this keyboard as much as I do! ^_^

I recently purchased an iMac and wanted to have a cordless keyboard and mouse setup like I had with my PC. I picked up an Apple mouse and a Rocketfish keyboard, both Bluetooth devices. The Rocketfish keyboard couldn't stay connected for more than 30 minutes without having to go through the entire "find-connect-pair" sequence again, so I decided to see what else was out there. I ended up choosing the Logitech DiNovo Edge keyboard for Mac - wow, what a difference! Great finish and feel, the keys have just the right amount of travel for me, and it STAYS CONNECTED!!! It's nice having the recharging stand too - everything is designed to look great on the desk next to the iMac. I purchased the MX Revolution mouse to go with it, and that's also a fantastic improvement over the old Apple cordless mouse. All in all, I'm very happy with these items despite the high price. I'll update the review if my impressions change.

This keyboard has worked great to control the 1.5 GHz Intel Core Solo Mac Mini running Mac OS 10.5.8 that we use as an AV hub. It never seems to loose connectivity for a few seconds like the older Microsoft Optical Desktop Elite for Bluetooth I use with my MacBook Pro at work. I could see that it looked great from the pictures (and indeed it does!), but I was pleased to find that it also kept the signal connection very well and that the key response was so comfortable. I keep it in the charging cradle, where we can just swipe the track pad to wake up the Mini if it's gone to sleep.
I'm even thinking of getting one of these for work; it would look embarrassingly good on my desk, but I guess I could get over that.

This beautiful item has exceeded my expectations in both appearance and performance! It's very comfortable and easy (even for a computer dummy like me) to use. And I'm so amazed at how much "smarter" this wireless keyboard is than the corded one that was shipped with the computer. The volume slide feature blew me away, in that you can slide your finger up and down the volume bar to vary the volume. I researched very long and read many reviews, some saying that the scroll ruined it, but that is the EXACT opposite of my opinion. The entire keyboard is a masterpiece. To use the dedicated application and brightness (F 1-12) you must download software from [...]. If I had to complain about anything, it would be the space bar which isn't too bad, yet its a little too round, and if you have this product you will know what I mean. Those of you who are worried about it being recharged able don't. I use the keyboard every day for many hours a day and only cradle it to charge it about once every 2 weeks. I have actually used it all week before and forget to put it in the charger and came back after the weekend and used it all week again.

I have had the Mac edition Dinovo for 9 months and was looking at buying a second for my wife's new macbook when I started scanning the reviews. The keyboard has worked flawlessly with bluetooth to the IMAC. Some of the complaints I see from the 1 star folks I have not experienced, keys sticking, distance issues, etc. As I have a mouse I do not use the trackpad, and I am usually within 5 feet of the computer when using the keyboard. I have owned Logitech keyboards for many year on Window's and Mac. Their software can be spotting on both operating systems. I usually de-install or do not install it to begin with because my logitech keyboard and mouse work perfectly on the IMAC without it.
This is an awesome looking keyboard, has performed perfectly for 9 months, and not having to replace batteries is a huge plus. If you are looking at this keyboard to pair with your mac, I would say do it from a performance point of view. The only downside is the cost.

I've been using logitech products since their "Logitech First Mouse" which was awesome. I used that ps/2 ball mouse way into the USB/optical era because it felt so nice to use.
My only concern in purchasing this keyboard was that it requires a vertical dock to charge, basically making the keyboard useless if it ran out of battery. There is no way to charge the keyboard while using it which is a design flaw IMO. however, I've been using this keyboard for over a month now on a single charge, so it will last for the long hull. I'm now at 20% and I'm expecting the a low battery indicator to kick in any day now so I'll simply drop the keyboard in the charger the night it comes on.
Oh, i should mention that I'm a computer programmer and work from home, so this keyboard has been used all day every day for the entire month, and evenings too when working on night projects and gaming.
Not having a numerical keypad is awesome! I hate them because they make the keyboard too wide and it is hard to center keyboard on the monitor, and if you do the mouse has to be very far right. I know some people like having a numeric keypad because they may use it a lot, but as a programmer I never find myself missing the keypad. Maybe because I've been buying keyboards without them for many years though. In fact, I won't buy a keyboard with one.
The keyboard feels nice to type on as I would expect from a logitech product. Build quality is high. Adjusting volume can be slightly more difficult with the touch control rather than physical buttons, but no major issue encountered. Proper physical buttons work well for all other music control buttons.
The touch mouse pad is a neat idea. Admittedly i do not use it often since I use this at my desk with a mouse, but I can see this being very useful if othis were used as a coffee table keyboard.
Overall I'm very happy with this keyboard and I'd certainly recommend. I'd love to see this exact keyboard layout able to plug into a computer (no battery) with backlit keys. If logitech will make that for me I'll move this one to my coffee table :D
20.) Works flawlessly on both Mac and Windows
Reviewed by: John Edge

I've purchased this keyboard to use with my MacBook Pro. Since I use BootCamp to dual-boot LEOPARD and WINXP, I was somewhat concerned it wouldn't work under Windows. Couldn't have been more wrong!
The winning streak started soon during unpacking since, much for my surprise, my unit actually shipped with e "USB Mini-Receiver". Besides opening the door to "non-bluetooth-built-in" systems, this also meant the workability under Windows was pretty much assured. Some quick field-tests confirmed just that. It worked seamlessly under both OSs.
On the LEOPARD side, you get "passkey protected bluetooth connectivity" and basic functionality out the box. After installing the latest version of LCC, I've managed to get every single bell and whistle working. The corrosive bad press about LCC out there made me very reticent to install it. Nonetheless, it seems this latest version addressed many of the previous issues. So far I have no complaints about it.
On the WINDOWS side, bluetooth didn't work at first. After some extra research, the solution was found on a "Logitech Forums" thread. The catch is that, although you can indeed get bluetooth working, there's seem to be no way to get a "passkey protected" connection. It only works in "no passkey" mode. It's also worth mentioning that the "Eject" key doesn't work. That said, everything else works like a Swiss clock! The TouchDisc, Volume slider, Media keys and Sleep button all work. Even the "Front Row" key works (launches Windows Media Player). I've used "SharpKeys" to create a "Windows friendly" layout (Left CMD->Left Control, Right CMD->Windows Key).
Bottom line: the right software and configurations will get you a keyboard that works flawlessly on both Mac and Windows! Here's a roundup of the steps required for achieving that:
MAC SETUP (tested under Leopard)
1 - Download and install the latest version of LCC (tested v3.2)
2 - Use "DoubleCommand" to map the "Shift+backspace-delete" combination to work as "forward-delete" (I've found this combo handier to use than the native "forward-delete button").
WINDOWS SETUP (tested under Windows XP)
1 - Check out the "Logitech Forums" thread to learn the procedure for setting up a working bluetooth connection (no passkey).
2 - Use "SharpKeys" to create a "Windows friendly" keyboard layout.
Like other reviewers have noted, the "space" key, much in dissonance with the rest of the keyboard, is pretty noisy and feels pretty cheap. The good news is that you'll be to dazzled with the rest of the keyboard to pay any attention to it, :).
The "diNovo Edge Mac Edition" is, by a clear mile, the best keyboard out there for the Mac. For reasons I can't fully grasp, Logitech has decided to discontinue this great keyboard. Get yours while you still can!

Purchased for use with a Mac Mini that is hooked to a TV for use as a Media center. Looks great & the keyboard has a nice feel when typing. It is a great keyboard for the use in the living room as a media center. I'm not sure I would want to use it as the exclusive keyboard in other situations.
Postitives - easy set up, looks great, charge lasts a long time, light weight (for use when sitting on the couch), & has decent range.
Negatives - mouse works ok, but not as well as a traditional mouse. The volume control bar included on the keyboard only controls the volume on the little speaker in the computer so it doesn't control volume of stereo or tv (from what I can tell). Still not sure if I like the charging dock. It requires you to set the keyboard on it side for charging and just seems a litle odd. Luckily the charge is fast and lasts for a long time.
Overall, I rate this as a very nice keyboard and would recommend it.
Note- New Mac Mini that have not been set up will need a compatible mouse to use for the initial set up of this keyboard. If you don't have something you can't get past the first screen on the set up that keeps flashing a picture of mouse battery installation and a click here button. After that you will be able to use the mouse function on the keyboard without any problems.

After searching for a while for a keyboard to use with my Mac as a home theatre PC, I came across this keyboard. Not only was it the amazing price listed on amazon that drew me in but the value of the feature set for that price compared to other more flimsy and cheap looking keyboards. This keyboard has pretty much everything you'd want, customizable function buttons, amazing feel in the keys, thin and sleek looking, touch volume slider, and a recharging base (though this could be a detractor as there is no replaceble battery). The only reason I rated this keyboard a 4 was because even though I was amazed to find such a high quality keyboard that included a trackpad (or TouchDisk) it was a little small and finnicky at times. The scroll features take a while to get used to and they don't always register. Also, dragging and dropping anything with this can be a chore due to the small pad size, things often get dropped in the wrong place as you have to lift your finger to continue sliding long distances. It does however have the nice feature of being able to click in three different ways: there is a left click button on the far right of the keyboard which makes it more comfortable to ust casually use the TouchDisk with your right thumb, you can also tap the pad which is pretty accurate most times, or there is a left and right click under the TouchDisk, which surprisingly I found to be the least responsive and therefore only use the right mouse click as it is the most convenient way to do so.
All in all, this keyboard is perfect for the task I bought it for, functioning as an inexpensive, high quality, slick looking keyboard to be used from my couch to control my home theatre Mac mini. If this is the reason you're thinking of purchasing this keyboard, I've looked around and not only was this the best quality keyboard I could find, but it's the best I could find for this price, with more than double the features of other, seemingly lower quality, wireless keyboards designed for Mac.

When you hit the space bar it feels like a $10 keyboard BUT all the other keys are a pleasure to hit...absolutely no noise, very soft and light touch...even better than my Macbook Pro keyboard UNTIL...like I said...you hit the space bar. Logitech what is up with that?
2. And to be fair I knew this when I bought it but I don't get why Logitech would leave off the numeric keypad? You'll find out how much you use it when you buy this keyboard and I'm not really complaining about this one...I'll adjust...I just don't get why it's gone :/

The only draw back is the touchpad, more specifically the left and right click "buttons" right below the trackpad. Those buttons are almost useless. Maybe because it's too small or too soft. As you'll see if you read any other reviews of Bluetooth keyboards (I did extensive research), the diNovo Edge is top of the line. It's a beautiful, quality product with strong Bluetooth connectivity and exceptional battery life. Even the charging stand is nice.
I use my diNovo Edge with a Mac Mini media center, connected to my HD TV and stereo receiver. As a keyboard, it cannot be beat -- I wish I had an extra one to use at my office. The built-in volume control is really nice, as it often saves me from needing the TV or stereo receiver remote. (I passed on a multi-function remote like a high end Harmony because I wanted the keyboard, and the price point is more reasonable.) The bad news is its mouse trackpad, which is especially unfortunate given that built-in mouse control was one of my primary requirements. The trackpad is too small, meaning that you're constantly having to jump your mousing finger back to the other side of the trackpad to move the mouse. This is a huge problem when trying to drag objects across the screen (e.g. for scrolling, or drag-n-drop), which both the keys and the tap-to-click feature seem to be absolutely terrible at anyways. One of the features I immediately activate on any Mac is the two-finger scrolling -- the trackpad boasts a similar feature, where you start on the right side of the pad and move your finger in a circular motion, but in practice it works only about half the time, and hardly ever very well. The trackpad is also awkwardly positioned on the right side of the keyboard, instead of in the center like a typical laptop trackpad or trackpoint. One of the better reviews I read mentioned this, but I had no idea how annoying it was going to be to take my right hand off of home row and go fishing around for the trackpad until I'd actually tried using the keyboard for a while. Still, when sitting on the couch, it beats not having mouse control at all, and definitely beats VNC!
If you're looking for a quality wireless keyboard with a built-in mouse, the diNovo Edge is a top contender. Just don't expect great usability out of the trackpad.

This keyboard is a very nice bit of kit. It looks the bomb (until you actually use it then it simply becomes a fingerprint magnet), has great functionality and is ergonomically comfortable (though not as good as the wireless Mac keyboard).
There are a couple of things that urk me however.
Firstly, WHAT IS WITH THE SPACE BAR? The reset of the keys on this keyboard are so quiet and delightful to use, but the spacebar feels as though Logitech simply pulled it off one of their $10 keyboards and stuck it on the DiNovo Edge (and not even stuck on very well I might add). All other keys are firm and silent - but the spacebar is loose and noisy. I've tried several keyboards in various stores, including the PC version, and they all seem to be built the same way. WHY LOGITECH...WHY? It ruins an otherwise pleasantly quiet typing experience. The spacebar click, click, click means I can no longer use the keyboard in silence - instead I always play some music in the background so that it won't annoy me (as much). If you become annoyed at the clicking/tapping noise of most keyboards out there, then avoid the Logitech DiNovo Edge.
Next, the volume slider is next to useless. 9 times out of 10 it requires several swipes to register correctly.
Finally, the small media buttons to the left are simply too small (for me) and not as easy to register as they could have been.
If these issues were to be addressed in future revisions of this keyboard (doubtful), this would be a near perfect keyboard (for me).

I've been on a multi-year search for the perfect (or at least perfectly adequate) wireless keyboard/pointing device. I've tried a bunch of keyboards with trackballs; all of them:
- were cheaper
- did not have builtin rechargable batteries
- had trackballs that were finicky
Some of them had good battery life and some had atrocious battery life; some had decent radio range/reception and some did not; some had scroll wheels and some did not.
This DiNovo Edge feels substantially better built, the builtin rechargeable battery is highly convenient, the radio reception quality and range are great; the trackpad is better than any of those trackballs, but I do wish it was bigger.
Overall, for quality, looks, convenience and overall smooth operation, this one wins.
Cons: it is expensive, and the trackpad still isn't perfect.

I agree with what has been said, in general, if you are looking for a keyboard this one really is good but it has some flaws. First, there is no logitech rechargeable extended keyboard, so while you get lots of neat buttons to work with all the Mac features, you don't get a ten-key off to the right. I use this keyboard for my personal computer so the only time I get frustrated is when I am working in excel or typing a credit card number or phone number or address.
The touchdisk is fine but the two mouse buttons are terrible. If you want to use the keyboard without a mouse, forget it. Using the two buttons to click is difficult. Double clicking is nearly impossible. All the buttons on the keyboard work great but for some reason they decided to go with a different type of button for the mouse and they are the only two buttons that are unresponsive and hard to push.
The volume control is a bit iffy. It lights up, but does not always transmit a change in volume. This is me being picky because for the most part it works and is kind of cool to see it light up as it adjusts the volume.
In general, I am pleased with the keyboard, everything but the buttons on the touchdisk is great and like I said, it would be really nice if it had the ten key feature. Otherwise it maintains a charge for I don't know how long becuase I eventually just drop in in the charger after a week or so.
40.) Dinovo Edge, Mac Edition

Pros: compatibility, design, easy to install, easy to use
Cons: Build Quality, expensive
The keyboard is just beautiful and elegant especially because of the brushed aluminum palm rest to contrast the piano black. Although the keyboard is beautiful, the unit I received has some cosmetic defects most likely from Logitech's manufacturing. The aluminum palm rest on my unit is not tightly flushed on one side and there are some scuffs. Here's an image uploaded by another Amazon user that illustrates the issue: http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media/product-gallery/B000J43HJ8/ref=cm_ciu_pdp_images_2?ie=UTF8&index=2 . It's quite noticeable. I will be contacting Logitech to see if I can get a replacement (I'll update as to whether or not they'll honor their warranty). This is disappointing since its such an expensive keyboard. Personally, I found the keys on the Dinovo to be smaller than regular keyboards. The spacing also seemed off when I began using it initially. It'll take some getting used to. Typing on this keyboard is very quite as well which is a major plus considering the keys aren't completely flushed and flat (like the new HP Wireless Elite Keyboard, which is also a terrific keyboard by the way).
I've read some reviews where users were complaining about the volume control on the keyboard isn't very responsive however I didn't think so. I found the volume control to be very responsive. The touch disk is fairly responsive however when using the touch disc the cursor on the display shows a tail that seems to be due to a lag. The tap to click on the touch disc isn't terrific but it does do the job. Sometimes I find myself having to tap multiple times to get the thing to work. On the left side there's a dedicated cursor button that I'm not really sure why Logitech decided to put it there since there are already dedicated left and right click buttons under the touch disc. What's the point of having another cursor button on the other side of the touch disc anyway?
Something that I would have liked to see Logitech do was make the keyboard both wireless and wired (charging through a USB port as another option). I don't like having to charge it on the base...seems sort of ridiculous. I also would have liked to see a user replaceable battery, this isn't a very green product.
All in all, its functions well for what it is....a keyboard. Some may still find it hard to justify the price. There aren't many slick keyboards out there that are wireless.
FOR WINDOWS USERS:
For those of you who are looking to purchase the Dinovo (Mac edition) for a Windows machine in order to save money like myself (wasn't purchased from Amazon), the keyboard does work on a Windows OS (I'm using Vista).
What to know for Windows users:
The command key acts as the windows key and option acts as alt. The eject button does not work, all of the other keys work fine. The touch disc works however the scrolling doesn't work. The keyboard runs under a generic driver. If you have SetPoint installed for another Logitech product, it will not be recognized by SetPoint. I thought this would be useful to some since I wasn't able to find this type of information on the web before I decided to by the Mac version. In sum, its probably wiser to get the Windows version to get the options in SetPoint, but that's decisions is yours! :p

I am big fan of trackpad gestures in the recent Macbooks, especially the double finger scroll, and I have been trying to find a wireless keyboard/trackpad combo that comes close to replicating the scroll experience. After checking out a lot of unsatisfactory options, I decided to go with the diNovo because of its gesture and Mac support. It's beautiful. There's a star trek appeal to the finish, which is enhanced by little orange leds strewn across liberally. The construction is sturdy and the board is thinner and longer than it looks in photographs. The charging cradle is handsome too, though it usually takes trial-and-error to cradle the keyboard properly so that it charges.
The usability, however, is barely 2 out of 5. The keys are "heavy" -- they are a chore compared to keys on a modern notebook ie Macbook/Thinkpad. The trackpad is too small and tucked away in an uncomfortable and distant location. I find myself trying to look for keyboard shortcuts instead. The worst is the rotating finger scroll. It's a complicated gesture which is made even more frustrating by its high failure rate. Even after a few months of using it, the gesture fails 25% of the time for me. The use of trackpad as a pointing device is inconvenient due to severely constrained track area, I end up with finger fatigue after 30 minutes or so.
The diNovo is sufficient for occasional use, especially with the computer that is part of the media center in your living room. However, it has ways to go before it can become a primary work device. I am hoping the next generation of wireless diNovos will be as usable as they are pretty.

Since I bought it from an 3rd party via Amazon, could only return for money back rather than an item swap, but the RMA process was super easy! You can read more in the reviews for the older version/ other sellers of this keyboard, but to summarize: I agree with other reviewers that the trackpad ruins what is otherwise a lovely keyboard. The trackpad buttons are small and require a very hard press, which is especially un-ergonomic being far over on the right-- and a shock when you're used to being able to click with your thumb in a very natural position in the middle of a MacBook keyboard. Yes, you can get around it somewhat by changing your habit to tap instead of click. But even the scrolling is awkward because the pad is so small-- and on top of it, you end up clicking on things by mistake a lot that way.
The whole point of this keyboard for me was to get more ergonomic and have all the controls in one place (rather than keyboard plus separate trackball). It failed in that. Not sure what I'll do with it now, and too late to return it-- that's why the disappointed two stars. Please, Logitech, why couldn't you make one with a proper trackpad in the proper place (the middle)?

Pressing "d" or "f: generates random keys, "o" generates an "Option o", so depending on the application, it opens finder so you can open a file. "p" usually opens iTunes and "z" is multi-functional, it opens Mail, Spaces and adjusts the volume!
Logitech support is overall pretty craptacular; emails are returned with this notice: "Email support will not be available from August 30 until September 21. We will not be able to receive new e-mails or respond to any prior e-mails during this time." and phone calls are directed to their automated system, but no human contact, even after leaving several messages.

It pairs easily and is not line of sight...but that darn trackpad is just horrible...too small, not accurate, and creates extra work. I'd prefer a mac like track pad that is bigger...sacrifice a bigger keyboard for extra pad...or give me a track ball. This is the mac edition. Hope this helps

Let me start of by saying I really wanted to like this keyboard. I purchased it to use with my Home Theater Mac mini, with the intent of using this one keyboard and integrated trackpad to replace my Apple bluetooth keyboard & mouse. Well, within one week I went right back to the Apple keyboard and Magic Mouse. I think the Logitech diNovo Edge might be a better fit on a desk, because its really big - much bigger than it needs to be, in my opinion. Lots of glossy plastic too, which shows fingerprints and scratches too easily.
The Apple wireless keyboard, on the other hand, is slim, sleek and far more useful in the living room. Typing on the diNovo edge was fine: the keys have a good feel to them, but again I have to give the overall nod to the Apple keyboard for quality and feel. Finally, I found the tiny circular trackpad on the diNovo absolutely horrendous. It is much too small to be of any real use, and its odd shape only complicated matters. As many other reviewers have stated, the trackpad really ruins this whole keyboard. I'd easily give this Logitech 4 stars if it had a usable trackpad.
Until I find a nice Bluetooth Mac keyboard with a large trackpad, I'm going to stick with the Apple products.

What was once a great keyboard (I've had mine a year and loved it) is now approaching useless with my upgrade to OS X 10.5.8. During clicking and dragging operations, the keyboard drops whatever you are dragging exactly 2 seconds after you have begun. No matter what. There's some chaos for you.
Logitech has acknowledged the problem and offers no solution. Well, actually, their "solution" was to drop the mac version of the product and leave their customers hanging. You can read about it in the logitec forums, search for "DiNovo Edge Mac Edition Touchdisc Issue". And you'll note the Mac version is no longer listed as a product on their website.
Avoid this one like the plague.

Jan 22, 2010 update:
Logitech continues to ignore email. When I eventually got to talk to a support person back in October, Logitech quickly acknowledged the DiNovo was faulty and sent me a return UPS label. The support guy told me they were expecting a new shipment of replacements the first of December. The keyboard was received by them and I was notified by email I would be contacted when the keyboard was returned.
After 2 months, I sent an email requesting information when I could expect the replacement. Nothing. Just like previous email attempts. In January, almost 3 months after they received my keyboard, I went through the hoops again by phone only to be told Logitech is no longer selling the Di Novo edge mac edition and I would need to apply for a refund!
The people on the phone are polite and contrite but Logitech obviously really cares little about their customers. I've bought Logitech mice for years, and watched them grow. A success story? But I will be very reluctant to buy any of their products again. Maybe they have grown big enough that screwing their customers is the norm.

Original review:
I really wanted to like this keyboard! And until the keys went berserk did, mostly.
To keep this short, I didn't like the sticky plastic keys on the Apple keyboard. The Apple wireless chicklet keyboard without number pad ($80) with its small footprint was unsatisfactory so I pawned it off on my son, who loves it. After reading it could be made to work with the mac I bought the Microsoft wireless entertainment 700 keyboard (another $80 bucks). With its Windows key layout getting it to work on the Mac was an exercise in frustration. I tried the DiNovo Edge several times at Fry's and it got mostly good Amazon reviews. Amazon delivered it within two days. After several weeks use, I was convinced this was the keyboard.
One aggravation though, brush the Touchdisk with an errant little finger and the cursor jumps! And you can't disable the touchdisk! However, with my keyboard history, I was determined to make whatever adjustments I needed to stay away from the touchdisk and keep this keyboard! The touchdisk was an aggravation but I could live with it.
Then after about 5 months, the keys started "bouncing", all keys, including the delete and back space. By bouncing, I mean a key repeats 2-30 times! Usually this is accompanied by long pauses. This behavior usually starts after the mac has been on a couple of hours. Turning the keyboard off then on solves the problem for only just a bit. The keyboard is fully charged. This behavior is intolerable while writing.
The Logitech software hadn't been changed but, just to rule it out, I apzapped it and reinstalled. No change. Software didn't appear to be the problem. Next, I used the DeNovo on a new Macbook, but the same thing happened.
As every key can display this behavior, it can't be a traditional electromechanical switch bounce problem. Anyway, those were solved years ago. It has to be something in the keyboard's bluetooth transmission. I emailed Logitech back in July with this information, but all I ever received was their automatic response. The keyboard is still within warranty but how I can get it replaced is not easily discoverable. So, I'm back with the sticky apple USB keyboard.
After using the Macbook for a couple of months, I may be able to live with the Apple wireless after all, if I can wrestle it from my son's grasp.
49.) beautiful, but dysfunctional
Reviewed by: larryy Beanblossom, IN USA
Rating:
There's no questioning the attractiveness of this keyboard, and it has a great key layout and certainly feels good under the fingers, but it is so dysfunctional I don't understand how anyone could rate it above one or two stars.
First, its keys "bounce"; i.e., produce more than one character when a key is pressed only once. Only, usually, physical bounces produce just a couple of characters, whereas I've sat and watched this keyboard send a stream of 20 or 30 characters after a single key press. This is the case whether one is using their driver software or not, so it must be originating in the keyboard hardware itself. When it gets in this mode, it is basically impossible to enter text, and it happens two or three times (at least) per day.
Second, it loses its Bluetooth connection fairly frequently (every other day or so). Power cycling the keyboard has always reestablished the connection, but it's annoying to have to do this routinely.
Third, the trackpad substitute frequently becomes sluggish and unresponsive. And after two months of use, this trackpad substitute is still very uncomfortable to use. It never feels natural. Dragging something, because you must both click and mouse, is a two-handed operation (you have to use one hand to hold down the separate click button and the other to move the selected item). The scrolling operation is so difficult to invoke that I've just given up and resorted to scrolling by either the page up/down keys or clicking in the scrollbar.
Fourth, there is no way to disable tap-to-click on this trackpad substitute. This produces unwanted clicks quite frequently. This, combined with an unreliable alternative dragging method involving a pair of clicks and a drag, plus the general difficulties with the pad, have resulted in me unintentionally moving one random folder inside another and even accidentally throwing one folder into the Trash. So far I've corrected all such errors without data loss, but this is unacceptable behavior, and makes me downright afraid to use the keyboard. Granted, I turn this feature off on laptop trackpads as well and it might, to a certain extent, be a matter of personal preference, but the inability to turn this off is reason enough to avoid this product for me.
Finally, Logitech's customer service for this product is abysmal. (I qualify that statement "for this product", because I have a Logitech Harmony universal remote and like it a lot, and have had good luck with their support services for that product.) I submitted a question to their web site asking if there was a way to disable tap-to-click, and went through two rounds of replies in which the support person suggested I try things that A) didn't help and B) I'd already stated I had discovered and tried in my original query. The third and final response from them was that it was not possible to turn off just this "half function", which, given the context, one could figure out meant "tap-to-click". I don't believe the support for this product is being handled by native English speakers.
All in all, I sincerely wish I'd trusted my early impressions of this device and sent it back to Amazon during the 30-day return period. Instead I have a very expensive, very attractive boat anchor, along with a much-reduced opinion of Logitech in general.

This keyboard is really beautiful and works well, which sucks because the trackpad totally ruins it. Other reviewers complain about the position and size of it. I'm ok with the position, the size is kind of small. What really kills me is this stupid acceleration they put on it. If you go from side to size on any trackpad, you expect the mouse to go to the same two spots on the screen. However, with this trackpad, moving faster makes it go further. When you move slow, the cursor moves like it's going through molasses. It's almost painful as you get close to a small target as it feels like the mouse is freezing up as you get to it. Who the hell thought it would be a good idea for the trackpad to guess how fast I want to move the mouse cursor?? It would actually be usable despite its size without this. I cannot find any way to turn off this mouse acceleration. I will be returning mine and trying to find another replacement.

Unfortunately, when it was time to charge it (only the second time), it would not connect to the power base. I contacted the manufacturer and they had some preliminary lame attempts to "make it work." Nothing made the contact between the keyboard and the charger work.
Nicely, Logitech offered me the choice between a refund or a replacement (with a different product) and discovered that - despite the presence of the SAME keyboard on Logitech's website, they are no longer selling that product. Further, Logitech has no bluetooth keyboards for Apple.

Like i said, built flaw is acceptable as i never 'test-drove' this keyboard before the purchase. This keyboard is going retard on me for the past few days, and it just won't pair up with mac no more after logitech software re-installation(with latest update).
The symptoms were just like others here, stroking a single keycap generating strange combinations of keys, making it useless to type. At first, it only did it for brief instance and came back to normal, and on and off for few days...it seems now that the condition is irreversible at this point.
