Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro

Reviews of Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro

1.) One of the best sets for a Windows OR Mac user.

Rating:
I'm extremely picky about the keyboard and mouse I use. Currently, I'm using the Apple BT Aluminum keyboard and Logitech VX Nano mouse with my Mac. I received this keyboard, expecting to just be able to use it with my Windows system, but how wrong I was...

First, the box is MISLABELED. It says you need a Windows XP or Windows Vista system. LIES. Second, the box shows the keyboard with no Apple-specific commands. LIES. The actual keyboard has the command logo on both Alt keys, as well as the Mac option key on the Windows button.

Bizarrely, the drivers included in the box only are for Windows XP and Windows Vista, which I cannot fathom for the life of me.. Make a quick trip to Logitech.com and download their drivers for the Mac, after which both the keyboard and mouse show up in the little Logitech control panel within System Preferences. Battery level and key bindings are all there and configurable!

Usage for keyboard:

Excellent. I was initially turned off by the layout of the keys, with its slight swoop and dip, but after using it for a bit, it grows on you and you learn to actually like it quite a good deal! The keys are soft, and not too loud, and very tactile. You definitely get the feeling of a quality keyboard. And the palm rest is lovely; a cushion-like affair. It uses two regular Duracell AA batteries.

On the Mac side, all the iTunes keys work, including play/pause/forward/back etc etc, and all the special keys for opening an e-mail or the calculator work, too! You can remap any of the function keys to open any Mac/Windows-specific application you want. Excellent!

The mouse:

A very comfortable mouse, with a "hidden" button where your thumb rests (it opens Expose in Mac OS X by default - nice!). There's not a huge amount to say about the mouse, really. It's sort of a cross between the Logitech MX Revolution (without the thumb wheel), and the VX Revolution. I really like it, and it doesn't suffer from the input lag like the Apple BT mouse does. (Note: This is a right-handed mouse only...)

A very nice feature of the mouse, and this shows that Logitech cares, is that it uses a rechargeable battery. Now that by itself isn't that impressive, but hear me out.... First, it's user-replaceable, and second, it's not just any old generic battery. It's a Sanyo Eneloop AA battery, which is a high-quality battery that suffers very little battery drain when idling. The mouse can be recharged using the included AC adapter, or from your computer. So while it's 2.4Ghz wireless, you can use it while charging it, which is great! The USB cable plugs into the front of the mouse, essentially turning it into a "wired" mouse (though it never actually stops being wireless in the sense that it always uses the 2.4Ghz adapter to connect to your PC/Mac).

Overall, I can't even begin to state how impressive this set is. That said, someone at Logitech needs a good slap on the wrist to update the box to specify that this keyboard/mouse set really is DESIGNED for Mac OS as much as it is for Windows XP or Vista.

I can't recommend this mouse and keyboard highly enough. 5/5

**EDIT**

Logitech, for no apparent reason, has updated their driver release from 2.6 to 2.7 for Macs, removing support for this keyboard/mouse set! If you want to be able to customize buttons etc on the keyboard/mouse, be sure to find the Logitech Control Center 2.6, not the latest (as of March 24, 2009) 2.7 version. I'm following up with Logitech about this madness...

2.) Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro Set - Same Wave Keyboard With The MX 1100 Mouse, Perfect For Righties
Reviewed by: Technology, Music and Movies East Coast
Rating:

Logitech's Cordless Desktop Wave Pro Set builds upon the positives of the original Wave set. The Pro version adds improved range and a better mouse with the Logitech MX 1100 Cordless Laser Mouse. The mouse with this set is equipped with the added benefit of a convenient rechargeable battery. The Wave keyboard retains all of its design elements, including extra function keys and hot keys for some common tasks. Of course its main feature is the great Wave shape that I prefer to any of the other ergonomic keyboards. Considering the integrated number pad and wrist wrest, this keyboard is actually still small compared to similarly outfitted models.

The original Wave combo is still a solid keyboard and mouse set. But by adding the "Pro" set to the mix, Logitech has given customers some more choices to make. Assuming you already know that you want the "Wave" keyboard shape, here are my thoughts regarding your options.

THE CHOICES

1. If you are a right-handed (or ambidextrous) mouse user and you prefer a higher profile mouse like the Logitech MX Revolution Cordless Laser Mouse, then the Wave Pro Set is the way to go to get the ergonomic keyboard and top mouse combo.
2. If you are a lefty, but think you can adjust to a flatter (lower profile) mouse, the original Wave Set is the way to go.
3. If you are a lefty, or a very picky mouse user who wants to use a more powerful or customized mouse like the Logitech G9 Laser Mouse, then the corded Logitech Wave Keyboard is the way to go. Plug in the mouse of your choice and you only have to live without the wireless connectivity.

PROS
+ Nice Wave keyboard I have grown to really like, very comfortable and durable
+ Keys are shaped to be closer to your fingers, requiring less hand movement
+ Integrated wrist cushion - comfy and convenient!
+ Integrated number pad in a nice form factor
+ Great wireless design for both keyboard and mouse
+ Nice MX 1100 mouse, which is perfect for most righties
+ Mouse is rechargeable conveniently via USB!
+ Improved wireless range with a supposedly more stabile connection
+ Included packaging can be used as a dust cover for the keyboard
+ Works well with Windows Vista & XP and Mac OS X
+ Weak battery indicator
+ Vista key shortcuts work nice!
+ Programmable smart keys
+ Batteries included!
+ Reasonable list price given improved mouse
+ Logitech software has improved a lot over the past year

CONS
- Mouse may still not be ideal for all; lefties and power users may need another
- Key design may not suffice for those who prefer full split ergonomic designs
- Key pad is stationary on the right side, also not-ideal for lefties

THE MOUSE

The MX 1100 is a great new design for mice that fits perfectly with this set. This mouse is very similar to the MX Revolution, and is also sold as a stand-alone product. The stand alone MX 1100 still uses batteries. This version of the MX 1100 has a convenient rechargeable battery that only requires plugging it in via USB once in a while.

One thing that comes as an unintended byproduct of the more powerful mouse are features that take some getting used to. For example, *turbo* mode allows you to click the scroll wheel and quickly scroll through long documents. If you are not familiar with this feature, you may think your mouse is broken. Simply click down on the scroll wheel to return it to *normal* mode and it should scroll in a slower / more controlled way.

The sad part of that is that the mouse from the original Wave Set has grown on me some. I used to exclusively use another mouse with the set, but recently had to go back to that one for a few days. It has a lower profile and is probably an easier adjustment for lefties.

THE KEYBOARD

The keyboard design has now been proven with almost a year of usage. The wave shape is REALLY nice, with nice sized keys that work very efficiently. This will please those who want something less extreme than full split keyboard designs but something more firm than the standard squishy keyboard. I've tried both wireless and wired models and they both perform very well.

The design of the keyboard is sturdy and comfortable. The function keys and the additional number pad are nice features. The integrated keyboard wrist pad is nice and comfortable, and the design gives you one less thing you have to have on your desk. This is a great keyboard that can be used well by lefties and righties, though it is perhaps less flexible than models with the moveable number pad such as the ambidextrous Microsoft SideWinder X6 Keyboard. Still, the comfort of the Wave shape gives it plenty of positives for most people.

I have actually come to prefer this to the split keyboard design after using it for a period of months. I can move my hands less and let my fingers touch the keys with ease. As a result, my typing speed has actually improved slightly.

The added range will open up this keyboard for use with a media center PC. The original offered good working distances from the USB mini-receiver, but the 2.4 GHz band has to improve upon that greatly. That makes it a solid improvement for media center applications. I've yet to determine its full range, but I plan on testing that soon.

The only concern I have about the new frequency is that many more devices have moved into this 2.4 GHz range, creating the possibility of interference. Once again, I haven't seen that happen to me yet, but I will definitely be mindful to note any such issues.

The keyboard is available in a stand-alone corded version, but most will prefer this wireless set unless you need or want to use a different mouse.

Many simply need the ergonomics of a split keyboard or other design. Of the many options for ergonomic keyboards, you may want to investigate these if the wave keyboard doesn't satisfy you.

Logitech Cordless Desktop Comfort Laser
Adesso Intellimedia MediaPro Flat Ergonomic Keyboard

CONCLUSION

This set is a nice improvement and absolutely should be on your list. The original Wave set was a strong 4 star product for me, but this one has just enough improvements to get up to 5 stars. While I rarely give 5 star reviews, this one deserves it as long as you are the intended audience. So if you are a right-handed, this should be a 5 star product for you. If you are a left-handed, we will have to wait and see if Logitech plans on offering this set in a *lefty* version.

Enjoy!

3.) Great combo the best keyboard and mouse on the market.
Reviewed by: Omar Siddique Ellicott City, MD USA
Rating:
I've always loved the Logitech cordless mice but been less a fan of their cordless keyboards. But since I really liked my stand-alone Logitech MX 1100 Cordless Laser Mouse (910-000718) and was happy with my 2 corded Wave keyboards, I thought I'd give this combo of a try.

I'm glad I did. It pairs a premium version of my favorite MX1100 mouse with what so-far is my favorite cordless keyboard.

My concerns with past cordless keyboards have been lack of ergonomics for extended use for the many computer hours I spend daily, and lag/key-repeat problems which manifest most obviously in PC gaming, but I notice in other usage also. Neither of these are problems with my new Wave.

The Wave keyboards (both corded and this cordless) have a great level of responsiveness. The programmable and multimedia keys offer full functionality but aren't "in the way" for people like me who don't use most of them. The keys have some firmness, giving feedback to my typing but not so much that I have to check that each keypress took. The slight undulation (the namesake "Wave") of the keyboard seems to fit the natural reach of my hands without having a learning curve.

I put the new cordless and old corded Waves side by side and they appear entirely identical, except the symbols on the multimedia keys are black (on this Cordless Wave Pro) instead of white. No other visible differences.

Versus my old corded Dell keyboards and the Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 3000 Laser (967553-0403) that this set replaced, I seem to typo less and type a little faster.

I've also tried the Logitech diNovo Edge and S500. I prefer the Cordless Wave Pro hands down to both.

The built-in wrist-rest of the Wave is the exact right size for my hands and angled well; I don't miss my separate wrist-rests at all.

Now for the mouse: the ergonomics of the older MX1000 (which I liked, but never QUITE worked for my hand, always felt a little too small) are addressed in the MX1100. Sensitivity and layout is just right; the thumb grip reminds me of the Logitech 931689-0403 MX Revolution Cordless Laser Mouse (Black) without the added bulk of that mouse.

Versus the stand-alone Logitech MX 1100 Cordless Laser Mouse (910-000718), the bundled MX1100 in this set is a lighter mouse with a single rechargeable/replaceable battery and a mini USB port on the mouse that attaches to a plug-in power adapter that lets you work while it recharges. I like this design better (lighter, no disposables). Although it seems odd for Logitech to design two nearly identicaly but notably different mice under the same name.

The software works well and is easy to understand. It's a great multi-button mouse that doesn't require additional configuration. It's a great keyboard with expanded functionality that doesn't get in the way of basic keyboard usage.

Quibble: The keyboard function (F) keys are a little small if you use them much. And that's my only quibble!

At this writing, I've been using the set for about 3 weeks.
Highly recommended. This is the best on the market today.

4.) Most comfortable keyboard ever with very useful hot keys

I'm not normally too enthusiastic about keyboards and mice, but this cordless desktop sets a new par in quality, comfort, and ease of use. Right out of the box the keyboard and mouse worked as soon as I plugged in the wireless key and removed the plastic battery covers. I really hadn't intended to use the keyboard immediately, but since it was working I waited a day until I installed the SetPoint keyboard and mouse software. On my PC, most of the settings worked instantly without the installation of the software, but once I installed the software I was able to customize my hot keys to do exactly what I needed them to do.

One thing I set up immediately was the power key to turn off the computer. Right out of the box when I hit the power hot key in the upper right hand corner of the keyboard it would actually just put my laptop to sleep, but once I edited the settings, it actually shut down the laptop, saving me some mouse work.

The calculator hot key right next to the power button comes in very handy, as I'm computing things several times a day. There is also a hot key to My Pictures, Windows Media Center, iTunes, movie playback buttons such as ff, rw, pause, play, and volume. Perhaps the most useful button in this section is the mute button. What a time saver when the phone is ringing!

I'm glad I waited a few days before writing this review, because it gave me some time to run the keyboard through it's paces. One very interesting thing is that I programmed the upper left hand hot key to start WinDVD, which is very useful for my daughter when she wants to watch a movie on my laptop. She doesn't have to do any keystrokes or even use the mouse. She just presses the hot key, and from there can use the play button.

I also set the bottom left hand hot key to start Word Perfect for her when she needs to do school reports. This, along with all the other hot keys are completely customizable to start executable files, open URLs, open folders or files, do their assigned default task, show a custom menu, or even can be programmed to do particular keystrokes for the ultimate in customization.

Onto the mouse.. the mouse is set up for right-handed users. I'm not quite sure what to tell lefties other than if you are not able to use a right-handed mouse, that you'll probably want to skip this product and just go for the keyboard only. The mouse has a few cool features that make it my favorite mouse to date. The scroll wheel can be set to do smooth (non-clicking scrolling) which I prefer, or to have measured clicks as you scroll down a page. It also has forward and back navigation hot keys which is very useful on the Internet and a great time saver. I also find this laser mouse far easier and more accurate to use than my Logitech optical mouse. The mouse is also conveniently rechargeable through a wall cord which also has a detachable USB cord, so you don't have to worry about running out of juice. You can just plug it in and keep using it while it charges, either through the wall outlet or the USB port.

My only complaint is that the mouse Flip 3D function does not work for me. When I initially installed this set, it said I had some conflicts, which is probably the cause of the problem. I have a Pen Tablet with a mouse, a laptop with a touch pad, and of course this keyboard and mouse. That is a lot of input devices to be running at the same time, and I'm surprised I don't have more problems.

Also, two of the hot keys, the ones I customized to start Word Perfect and WinDVD, took about 24 hours to work. I was about to call tech support and then they started working. I'm not sure why there was delay but my computer was restarted a total of 3 times before those functions worked.

Finally, the keyboard is just plain comfortable to use. The wrist rest is made out of a soft matte material, so it doesn't get cold, and the keyboard has 2 height adjustments.

If possible, I would lower my score to either 2 or 3 stars. While I still enjoy many of the features I have become very unsatisfied with mouse. Specifically, the scrolling wheel can be maddening to control. I find that while scrolling through a document I can not "Stop" at a precise location - instead the document "bounces". It is hard to describe, but this is a very annoying effect, especailly when scanning/scrolling through emails.

The "Logitech Wave Pro" is very similar to the "Logitech Wave" and this is a very good thing. The primary difference is that the Wave Pro seems to be even of a higher quality. This makes the "Wave Pro" the finalist keyboard and mouse combo available on the market - in truth I can not think of a single way to improve it (except making it more fully Apple compatible!)

Pros-

- Amazingly quiet typing. Pushing on the keys is like typing on individually air cushioned coils. This produces both a quieter and less fatiguing experience (less impact on your fingers -which may not be a big deal for most of us, but a secretary may truly appreciate this).

- No worries battery life. The mouse is fully rechargeable and the key board is equipped with batteries that will last for three years.

- Comfort ergonomics of the keyboard. The keyboard seems to be designed with you're the curvature of your hands in mind.

- Loads of features. I will not go into the details of the many features (since they are described above) but they all work well. In some cases - like the zoom function and volume control how you were able to live with out them. While I still use XP (so I am unable to take advantage of these extras) the Wave Pro is loaded with additional features for users of Windows Vista.

- The mouse seems to function on any surface. You can say goodbye to your space eating mousepad. The mouse that comes with the Wave Pro will operate on any surface.

- Well built construction - everything (including the scroll wheel on the mouse) seems to be built with high quality standards. Everything seems firms and built to last.

- Easy to install - It takes about 5 minutes to go from the box to typing.

Final tally - if you are using a PC (and probably an Apple too but to a lesser extent) you will not be able to find a better mouse/keyboard combo. While the cost is on the higher side I would be very surprised if you were not completely satisfied with your purchase. 5+ stars.

6.) Catch the Wave
Reviewed by: Modest to the extreme Georgetown, Guyana
Rating:
A keyboard used to be a rather boring, under-appreciated, rectangular attachment to your computer, useful for typing stuff, and for catching stray staples, bits of paper from your paper punch, dust and assorted DNA particles.

Now here comes the Wave Pro, with a sensuous curvy design, and a whole lot of kewl features that you never knew you needed until now. This model comes with an MX1100 Cordless laser mouse, both sharing a common USB micro-receiver.

Features:

Cordless Keyboard

1. Windows Vista Flip 3D button, that helps you to switch between application windows easily. With XP you get a pop up list of your open windows, but with Vista you see your windows in 3D view, and then use your arrow keys or mouse to choose your next destination page.

2. Zoom keys to get that paragraph to a size you can read, even without your progressive lenses.

3. Special Vista keys that bring up all the Vista features, and all your picture files, each with the click of one button.

4. Navigation keys for multimedia - volume, mute, play, pause, stop, fast forward, skip back. This is a very handy feature - kind of like a monster sized remote control

5. One button to bring up your Media Player

6. One button to bring up your Media Center, where you can listen to music, or watch a movie, tune in to the television, view your picture files in a slideshow, check out MSNBC.com and more.

7. Call up a handy calculator in a jiffy

8. Sleep button

9. Fn key to give each of the function keys a second job to do, such as launch Word or Excel, your favorite website, your IM page or e-mail or favorite search engine.

10. Battery status indicator.

11. Contoured keyboard with palm rest for comfortable typing. This design works very well for people who can type with the proper fingers, but also does the job for the two-fingered corn-pickers among us.

12. Displays actions on your monitor for a few seconds so you're less likely to accidentally hit your Caps button without noticing it.

Cordless Mouse

See: Logitech MX 1100 Cordless Laser Mouse
(NB) On its own this mouse uses 2 AA batteries, but when packaged with the keyboard it uses a rechargeable battery.

Cons:
1. The keyboard is pretty big (albeit understandably so) and takes up quite a bit of space on the desk. I'd get around this by typing with the keyboard on my lap and my feet up on the desk, but they tell me it's not good office practice.

2. The mouse uses rechargeable NiMH batteries - good for saving on dead batteries, but a real pain to keep track of the charger, which you'll need once every six weeks.

Conclusion:

The "Ayes" have it - regardless if you're a whizz at data entry or a two-finger wonder, this keyboard makes a lot of functions easier, and the Media Center and handy navigation keys put it way ahead of other keyboards.

Add it to your own Christmas list this year.

Always been a Logitech user. I especially like their mice. But I've had trouble with cordless. So when I bought this, I was explicitly looking for a product with a decent range - as in more than 10 feet - for my home theater PC. This one fit the bill perfectly!

Pros:
Range - works at 15 feet and then some!
Mouse - like the old Mouseman, it's shaped to your hand (for right-handers)
Keyboard - a sleep button that works and is recessed to avoid accidental pushing. Lots of other buttons like volume control. This keyboard is a very good fit for my application - my Home Theater PC (HTPC).
Dongle - the USB dongle is the size of a small WiFi adapter. No long cords, no magic button pushing - it just WORKS!

Cons:
Mouse - is for right-handers only. Also lots of buttons that can be accidentally pressed. May want to disable some of them in the control software.
Cost - a bit pricey unless you need the range. No other wireless comes close to the range of the Wave.
Keyboard - size is a bit large. For the home-theater PC people, it would be very nice if Logitech were to make a similar product with a mini keyboard. Or maybe a combo mini keyboard and trackball?

Do I recommend it? Absolutely! 5 of 5 stars!

I have recently started to spend a lot of time on my desktop after a long stint on a laptop and felt the need for a full sized keyboard and mouse. I finally made this my choice.

First the mouse. I was using the VX Nano that I was previously using and this mouse took a couple of days to get used to. It has been over a week now and I have gotten pretty used to it. It feels comfortable and the soreness I used to have with the VX Nano is no longer there at the end of the day. It also felt quite heavier initially and now it feels a lot more comfortable.
I was used to the hyper scroll with VX Nano and was one of the reasons to upgrade my choice from Cordless Wave to Cordless Wave Pro. The only difference is that a press on the wheel actually acts a middle button click instead of switching the scroll mode. The button by the wheel actually acts as a switch. This does not really alter the usage by much.

I have not ha to charge my mouse so far. The fact that the rechargeable batteries are user replaceable is big plus. The charging cable if connected to the mouse does make it a little awkward to use as it is not flexible at the point you plug it in. I am planning on charging the mouse overnight, when I need to. The little hidden button by the thumb is great little gem.

On to the keyboard, the star of this set. The Wave design looks nice and the keys are actually slightly larger than my other keyboards. In spite of the ergonomic design I am able to type like I always used to. I am not a touch typist, I mostly use my middle and index fingers to type and the keyboard does not hamper my way of picking at the keys one by one. The relative positions of the keys are pretty similar to a regular keyboard. I have noticed that this keyboard has improved my wrist angle while working to be straighter than it used to be with a regular keyboard.

I am still working on Windows XP and I could get the Media Center Key to launch my iTunes and I all of the media control keys (play/pause, stop etc...) are actually nice to get used to.

There are a couple of things that would have made this set better, an extension dock for the receiver as with Nano and other sets would have been nice, instead of having to plug the receiver in to the cpu unit under the desk. Lights for Num, Caps and Scroll lock on the keyboard itself. I use numbers in my passwords and am used to entering them from the numeric keypad and there is no way of saying if the Num lock is on or off from the login screen. Which sometimes can lead to annoying focus shifts instead of the password being entered properly.

All in all I am very satisfied with it, another stellar product from Logitech.

The one day shipping was fast and on time as always from Amazon.

It's perfect. It is exactly what I was looking for. Extremely customizable with the Logitech software. I receive no lag when I am gaming or typing a word document. I use Windows Media Center with codec packs to play all my movies and this keyboard has great shortcuts for WMC. If you are looking for a keyboard for your HTPC and you also want to game from your sofa, then this keyboard is for you.

Oh, and the mouse is awesome. You can customize the DPI through the logitech software, which can make it more or less sensitive depending on your tastes or use at the time. When I am just websurfing, I use a lower DPI, but when I game I turn the DPI to the highest setting.

Now about this Wave Pro combo. We just got it in today, and 1st impression, is that this is an outstanding keyboard and mouse from Logitech. I unpacked everything, even the CD, and was preparing to go through an install process. The wife simply plugged the USB transmitter in the pc we have connected to the home theator, and started clicking away... It simply worked, right out of the box, no drivers or software installed. Now, I am sure it will open up a whole new world of functionality once we do install the drivers and software, but, I was just impressed and shocked that the wife was browsing the internet on the pc litterally 3 minutes after UPS dropped the thing off.

Mouse: So far, love it. The shape and size is perfect for me. I am a man with med to large hands, so lets see how the wife with smaller hands likes it. But, for me, it just feels like it should be in my hand. very comfortable and natural feeling. I was also impressed that is comes with an installed AA high end Eneloop NiMH rechargeable battery, and not some cheap junk battery. Nice.

Keyboard: Comes with 2 AA Duracells installed. Nice. Most things come with cheap 2nd rate batteries, but this comes with good Durracells. We plan to replace those however with Eneloop NiMH when they die tho. But still nice that they put good batteries in it to start ya off with. The layout of the keyboard I am still on the fence about. But, again, it has only been less than an hour since we unpacked it. But, first impressions is good. I kinda like the feel of it, and I think as more I get used to it, I will even like it better. I think we have a winner, and do not expect nothing but liking it more we use it.

Reception: Well, dunno because I also bought a USB extension cable, and the reciver works great with it. I plan to remove the cable and see just how far I can get away with soon, but for now, the reception seems to be quite nice. I am about 12 feet from the computer sitting in my recliner, but have a 15 foot extension cable to bring the reciever within about 6 feet of me. Works fine, with no lag so far. I plan to move the reciever farther and farther away tho and test the distance.

As time goes, I plan to add to this review, but out of the box, 1st impression, I am impressed.

i also have a keyboard/mouse that is corded hooked to my computer. logitech keyboard and microsoft mouse, but the corded hardware works fine simultaneously with the cordless in the living room. what is also nice is that the mouse sensitivity can be controlled on both mice, so i have them set approximately the same. the mouse is also very nice...i love the feel and the extra buttons. i was initially interested in the mx5500 because of that mouse, but when i got this mouse i was quite impressed with how comfortable and useful it was. the keyboard is great, too, and has media controls at the top, which is nice if you are playing a game and want to change the song in the middle of a round.

all in all, for the $60 i paid, awesome deal and highly recommended!

I just received this a few days ago, so these admittedly are initial reactions. The keyboard and mouse both have a great feel to them. Yes, the keyboard is a tad larger than my old one and the mouse is a little heavier. Neither fact is a problem for me. Both pieces worked right out of the box. No need to download the software disc that came with it. Just plugged in the receiver, removed the plastic tabs from the battery compartments and go. The layout of the keyboard is impressive and is very easy to get used to. The mouse feels solid and has a quality feel to it. The features have pretty much been stated in other reviews so I'll keep this short. I have always had confidence in Logitech products and this one doesn't disappoint. Highly recommended. Also, just a note about Amazon shipping. I had this shipped super saver shipping and it actually arrived two days before the expected ship date. I do a good amount of online shopping and I believe that Amazon is easily the best out there.

I've had it now for 3 months and there is yet something to find fault with. I'm not looking for one, but products I've bought in the past always had something that came up shortly after I plugged it in and started using it - not so with this package (mouse & keyboard). The recharability feature of the mouse is just a little thing, but all so welcome! I can work just about all day and never have to change the batteries then try to figure out how to get it working again without having to shut down and turn on again! I'd buy this again and recommend it without reservation.

20.) Another High Quality Product from Logitech
Reviewed by: Phyllis Staff Dallas, Texas USA
Rating:
In a world where quality all too often takes second place, it's good to know Logitech still takes quality seriously. The Wave keyboard combo is no exception: it's an excellent wireless keyboard.

The Wave is designed with consumer comfort in mind. And with carpal tunnel syndrome that occasionally lets me know it's still hanging around, comfort is the first thing on my mind. The Wave keyboard delivers with a padded handrest and lots of special function keys.

The Wave combo comes with a wireless laser mouse in addition to the keyboard. Larger than the Nano mouse for notebooks, it's the right size for an average size hand, but a little too large for me. Scrolling is much faster than on any other mouse I've tried, but, in this instance size matters more to me than the speed of scrolling. I've substituted my (Logitech) Nano Mouse, so now I'm a very comfortable camper. However, I'll have to admit that this newest Logitech mouse has more features and would be more accurate for doing Photoshop work than the Nano mouse. And, because it's included with the keyboard, it may be one of the best deals going.

As usual, Logitech has impressed me. I've been a happy customer for many years, and, as long as they retain their focus on high quality, I'll be a happy customer for many years in the future.

21.) Built for Comfort -- a review of Logitech's Wave Pro package, a great plug-n-play combo
Reviewed by: Harmless
Rating:
This package contains Logitech's flagship Wave Pro Keyboard and it's MX1100 mouse. The MX1100 I've reviewed elsewhere. It's a great, if large, mouse that's plug-and-play and comfortable to use. (Not for lefties.)

The Wave Pro keyboard is also comfortable. Besides having a built in wrist pad, the keys are placed at differing heights giving the board a unique look. And personally, I found that it did, in fact, reduce the stress on my fingers and wrists.

Besides the mouse and keyboard, this package also comes with Logitech's software center, nicad batteries and recharger.

Testing:
This time around I tested the equipment on only one machine -- my family's PC which runs XP/home. Taking it out of the box elicited tug boat noises from my husband. And indeed, it's a big board and a big mouse. That said, there was no problem placing both on the under-slung sliding keyboard shelf on the family computer hutch.

Likewise, there was no problem getting the pair up and running. All we did was plug in the USB dongle and start typing. (Woohoo! gotta love that)

Both my husband and I happen to be sticklers for key 'touch' and we were both happy with the Wave Pro. Nothing cheap here. It feels like quality.

There are all sorts of preassigned buttons on the board. One for a calculator for example and others for various shortcuts, but all of them can be reprogrammed using Logitech's SetPoint desktop software (included).

Personally, I'm a plug-and-play sort of person, so I've not fooled around with these features. But from having other Logitech gear, and in doing a little background research, I feel comfortable in saying that these features will work well on PCs.

Considerations :::

Both the mouse and the keyboard have ergonomic design and are meant to provide a safer environment (aka carpel tunnel syndrome) for uber-users who spend alot of time on a computer.

This pair each singly won CNET's "Editor's Choice Awards".

OK... that might be a little bit over the top but it really is an excellent combination. I wish that I could bring it into the office and use it there also. The keyboard and mouse were simple to setup and the comfort level is incredible. I love how responsive the mouse is and the tactile feel of the keyboard is top notch. I never write reviews, but I had to share with anyone who would listen that this keyboard and mouse set has changed my life. Seriously.

My old keyboard was too tall to fit in the drawer on my desk, so I had to leave it sitting on the desktop. I made this purchase because we have a new baby, and I needed a wireless keyboard I could move to my lap if I was holding her.

The bonus was it's so slim that even when on the middle elevation, it still fits in the keyboard drawer. Because of this, I got some deskspace back. When I did this, I discovered I could rearrange my two monitors, which resulted in moving my desk chair. For the first time in years, my back doesn't hurt when I'm at the desk for long periods, the awesome ergonomics of the Wave keyboard and mouse have eliminated my carpal tunnel pain, well, life is just plain good.

The Wave design on the keyboard is subtle but a definite improvement. The semi-soft palm rest is simply the best I've ever used. While I'm not a fan of extraneous buttons on keyboards, the controls on this one are both functional but out of the way. The mouse is the first I've found that even came close to matching up to my old MouseMan Wheel+ Optical of 2001 fame.

If you've never had a wireless keyboard and mouse before, be aware of two caveats: Even with a good set, you're going to use up some batteries, and you will every now and again likely have a delay or hiccup with text entry or mouse movement. That being said, so far both issues on this set are minimal. At $115, it's not cheap, but it's definitely a great investment!

I received this through the Vine program, and was interested to see how I'd adapt to the keyboard. I spend A LOT of time in front of a computer, and I'm not a fan of the whole ergonomic keyboard idea. Just feels "wrong" to me. The keyboard here has a nice feel, and the slight curve of the key placement wasn't enough to throw me much. In fact, once I got used to it, it felt even better than a normal one. The cordless aspect was also very appreciated, as I've got far too many cords on my desk already. It's the first time I've used a wireless keyboard, but I'm sold now.

And Logitech does some of the best mice out there. As with others I've tried in the Logitech line, this one is formed perfectly for my hand, everything is in perfect placement for my fingers, and it's a joy to use. Add to it one less cord, and again it's a welcome addition to my desk.

As a complete package, it's hard to beat the Logitech Desktop Wave Pro. Comfortable, solid, good range from the transmitter, and no lag. A definite keeper.

Well the old keyboard and mouse kept cutting out when I would try to type and the mouse seemed to always be jumping around as I tried to click on something. Well this mouse and Keyboard combo came in the mail and work a lot better than my old setup. Pretty good shipping time also by the way. I have noticed the sometimes the keyboard does cut out but overall it doesn't miss too much. Once you get it in a good spot it works perfectly. Seems mostly only to cut out when its on my lap and cross my legs or something (must mention that I'm in a recliner and leaned all the way back so probably doesn't have good line of sight from there). The features on the keyboard are pretty cool also. I love the rechargable mouse also, seems to work better when fully charged and only misses the mark every once in a while. I wasn't building an office, nor am I computer gaming geek. Just a mom who was finally going to have her own space her own "man cave". My husband built me a desk/table. Which I wanted in the middle of the room not down the side of a wall. I wanted desk/craft/ sewing table. I didn't want cords hanging everywhere. I wanted to be able to place my keyboard anywhere that was convenient for ME not the pc. But where I found ergonomics' I couldn't find wireless, wireless was not ergonomic. And when I did find it together, it was well over $150. Finally I found 2. But the hump in the middle of one of the boards was so drastic, and nothing like I was used to, I passed. And bought the other one. I so happy to take it home, and then when I got home I found it was not truly wireless, it was laser readable. So I would still have to have my keyboard close by and have a cord handing from my pc. So disappointed, I took it back. Came home went staight to my pc and started looking online and there was this Logitech, a brand I have counted on in the past. At Amazon.com At an extremely affordable price and it came with a mouse, the same mouse I have used before and loved. This is the most comfortable keyboard, the pad is unique and soft, the keys easy to touch. The adjustment from my work to home is so easy. I have a standard ergonomic keyboard at work, I was worried about the changed in feel, but this is the most natural fit, my tired hands eased right into it. I had read reviews of other keyboards, where user talked about wireless keyboards being slow, I had never used one before so I didn't know what they referred to, so I prepared myself to not be completely happy. But I was wrong. This keyboard moves as quick and easy as anything I have ever used.
I have had to move my keyboard and mouse across the room so I could cut fabric on my desk, then realized I needed to find something online. Went over to my keyboard without moving again. Typed in what I wanted and came back to the monitor and it was all there. Finally a system built for my convenience, Now, I just need to find a wireless monitor. Do they make one? lol
This keyboard will be on my Christmas gift giving list this year.

I used to have an MX 5000 keyboard, and it was really annoying to use beacause of it's touch controls, especially while you are playing games or just typing an email. Btw, the included logitech software can disable the different extra buttons on the keyboard and mouse for gaming mode. No more hitting the windows key or alt tab and switching (the volume controls do still work within games, which is great).

The MX1100 mouse is outstanding, smooth, responsive, extremely comfortable (if you are a righty only though). Battery life in the mouse has only lasted a month or so, but it's not an issue as it is rechrgable, and has a very nice compact USB to mini USB cable that also plugs into a wall outlet charger. Excellent mouse for pros too, my wive is a graphic designer and bought this mouse for her Mac desktop, you can adjust the dpi smoothness on the fly and assign buttons just the way you need them, she loves it. A bit pricey for me, but an excellent product. The keys are responsive and "noisy" enough to envoke a nice keyboard feeling. It took a bit of time to adjust to the Wave's curved design but I find it better than the traditional rectangular and full ergonomic keyboards. The mouse is nice and fits my hand well. I have long fingers so that's an important thing for me. The software that comes with the product is functional and simple. Almost all the keys can be reprogrammed to have other functions, which I took advantage of immediately. Having the forward/backward keys on one side of the mouse alone is weird for me and annoying, but it's not too bad. Overall, an excellent set.

All of the mouse buttons appear to work and are configurable. FYI, you can switch between free and locked scroll using the button below the scroll wheel. I thought it was a power button at first. :)

The keyboard's bonus features are a mixed bag. Some of the blue function keys work (a, b, c), while the others don't appear to (word processor, spreadsheet, calendar, browser, chat, email, search, battery, eject). Similarly, some of the keyboard shortcuts work (zoom, dashboard/widgets, itunes, calculator, power on/off), and the others don't (iphoto, media center, expose).

I actually use this product with my laptop, not a desktop computer, but it's excellent!

I don't have any bluetooth, nor I hear should I want it either, but this keyboard and mouse function off of a tiny (and I mean, this thing basically dissapears into the USB port once you plug it in), usb receiver that functions as a bluetooth analog (not to mention the benefit of having to buy a new laptop/desktop just for the benefit of wireless).

So, right there and then, this product makes my life easier and more comfortable. As for the mouse, I have a pretty big hand, so this mouse is definetely not the best option for me, but I can still manage by changing how I hold it. The keyboard is excellent! Very durable, high quality, and stylish. Contours my hands very well, and very easy to type with. I always had problems with my wrists hurting due to how my laptop is set-up, and the fact that when I type I press hard, and this hurts the bones. This keyboard is extremely comfortable and lets me work without the pain I had before!!!

I had no problem with batteries. In fact, this is one of the most economical wireless units I have in terms of battery use; little charging required. One minor flaw here though, it's hard to tell when battery power is running low (unless you constantly check, which I don't rememmber to do), and I sometimes have to turn the power button on several times to get it going, I'm not quite sure why that occurs, but it's really not a major hassle.

Well worth the money!!!

83.) Logitech Desktop Wave Pro

After 10 months of use some of the lettering on the keys of my old Logitech keyboard had totally rubbed off so I acquired the new Wave Pro. It's always an adventure getting a new Logitech product discovering in what areas it falls short. The new Wave Pro was not a disappointment in this regard.

The biggest reason not to use this keyboard is that the signal can no longer be encrypted. They have replaced the connect button on the bottom with an almost as useless on/off switch. The connect button was used in the encryption keying sequence. No connect button, no encryption.

The keyboard signal is very weak. The RF receiver stick would only pick up about 60% of the keys typed when plugged into the back of my tower. Maybe a weaker signal gives the keyboard extended battery life. Now I have to use a corded cradle for the RF stick. Less cords is always better.

At first I thought the keyboard was improved because the keys were very quiet. This only lasted one day. They are as loud as ever now.

Logitech still uses their own design placing the Home And End keys too far away for easy reach while typing. I find myself using the palmrest and this leads to more errors while typing for me compared to a standard keyboard.

They still don't have an indicator for cap lock or number lock on the keyboard itself. There is a new power indicator light but it only stays lit a few seconds. A useless addition.

The mouse appears to be an improvement because it is bigger and has more programmable keys. Appearances are deceiving.

The mouse comes with a rechargable battery and separate charger cable. Less cords is always better. The indicator light flashes while charging and is supposed to stop flashing when fully charged. My mouse light flashes all the time.

The scroll wheel is supposed to be ratcheted to give the user more precise control. This click, click positioning is very inaccurate and not as good as on some of their other mice. Whatever technology they use on their other products didn't transfer well to this mouse.

The wheel scrolling is supposed to be programmable for different applications. This feature doesn't work.

The button programming doesn't work while using Microsoft Office software. As soon as I switch from web based applications to an Excel spreadsheet or Word document the buttons functions change.

I'd like to thank Logitech again for coming out with another product that is constantly challenging.

This is a great keyboard/mouse combination. In fact, it's worth buying the Wave Pro set over the Wave set just for the upgraded mouse...which you cannot buy outside of this combo.

The keyboard is the best ergonomic keyboard I've used and involves almost no learning curve. In fact, typing feels more natural than I'm used to...even as a writer. The keyboard is responsive (albeit a little bit louder than I prefer, but then again no external keyboard will be as quiet as a laptop keyboard).

MAC USERS, READ THIS:

It is true that the Wave Pro DOES work just fine with apple OS X. What does NOT work is Logitech Control Center (commonly referred to as LCC). It's not the LCC isn't compatible with Mac OS X, it's that LCC doesn't recognize the Wave Pro keyboard.

A call to Logitech support revealed that the infrared receiver for the Wave Pro combo differs from the Wave combo. It's the infrared receiver in the Wave Pro set that makes LCC unable to recognize a connected keyboard or mouse. It seems strange that Logitech would support OS X on the lesser priced version of this combo and not the Pro version, but that, unfortunately, is the case.

There have been stories of the difficult to find LCC version 2.6 (currently in version 2.7) working with the Wave Pro set, but such was not the case for me. If you want to give it a shot yourself, grab it from logitech's public FTP page here: ftp://ftp.logitech.com/pub/techsupport/mouse/mac/. You're looking for the "lcc260.zip" file.

It's both a blessing and a curse that LCC isn't supported for the Wave Pro on OS X, as it has been the reported problem of SOOOOOO MANY problems, including a blue screen of death, kernel panic issues, program crashes, and random freezes. We mac users are definitely not used to such issues.

If you want to map your mouse buttons, simply download the VERY popular SteerMouse program. Problem solved. As far as the keyboard goes, I personally haven't found a good 3rd party keyboard mapping software to regain the functionality of the media and specialty keys on the keyboard itself. Note that the volume and iTunes controls DO work, out of the box, just not the zoom, webcam, settings, calculator, and other launcher keys.

If anyone DOES know of a program to map these keys, I'd love to know about it.

In conclusion, if you're a mac user considering this combo, don't let the problems with Logitech Control Center deter you. As I mentioned before, it's both a blessing and a curse. At least you can the very stable SteerMouse to regain functionality of the many wonderful mouse buttons.

Reviewed by: RG California

I've done a more extensive review of the mouse here Logitech MX 1100 Cordless Laser Mouse (910-000718). The short answer is it's the best mouse I've ever used. Yes I own two copies of this mouse, the standalone version and the one bundled with the keyboard. There are a couple minor differences between the two which I'll mention below.

The main difference between the mice is that that standalone version can run on 1 or 2 batteries while the bundled version only runs off 1 and can be recharged via USB. It comes with 1 Eneloop AA rechargeable battery and a USB cord so you can recharge it from the mouse. Of course you can also use regular AA batteries in it. Just remember not to charge it if you put in non-rechargeables. The standalone mouse can use rechargeables but you cannot recharge the batteries directly from the mouse.

The other difference is how the SetPoint software displays battery life. It only gives general estimates such as 'Good' or 'Low' whereas the standalone version actually gives me detailed estimates in days (e.g. 284 days left).

The keyboard is large so you need plenty of desk space for it. The ergonomic wrist pad is nice and comfortable. The pad is dimpled like a golf ball and those dimples are magnets for crumbs to get stuck in. Keep a can of compressed air handy. There are a lot of extra keys and they are useful. There are dedicated keys for the calculator, default music player, volume controls, etc. You can map most of those keys to other functions as well. The keys have a nice feel and have just about the right amount of clickiness to them. I noticed the lettering on the keys appears to be stickers instead of stamped on. I hope the stickers never come off. The keys are also not perfectly even, but are angled slightly. I guess it's some ergonomic thing. It looks a little unusual but I haven't found it makes any real difference to me either way.

I have one major gripe about the keyboard that bring the overall usefulness down a notch - non-standard arrangement of some important keys. First, the function keys are in 4 groups of 3 instead of 3 groups of 4. Second, the ins/del/home/end/page up/page down keys are not arranged in 2 rows of 3. I've had too many years being trained in a specific layout and Logitech went against standard convention to confuse me. I constantly hit the wrong keys because of this.

Overall the keyboard delivers a lot of useful features but it's odd key layout makes it more difficult to use than it should be. 5 Stars for the mouse but only 3 stars for the keyboard.

Reviewed by: physics geek Charleston, SC USA

After having used a corded Wave keyboard for a few months, I decided to splurge and pick up the cordless version so I could use a Wave at work and at home.

Like the corded Wave, the keyboard is very comfortable and has a fairly decent key feel. The palm rest is padded and feels nice, and typing with the keyboard on my lap feels just as comfortable as having it on the desk.

I run Linux on my desktops, and so far Logitech doesn't seem to be in any hurry or have any great desire to come out with Linux drivers for their keyboards. This means you're stuck with basic keyboard functionality and that many of the function keys aren't available under Linux. Media keys work as do a couple of the programmable silver keys, but that's about it. Something to consider if you're not going to be using this keyboard with Windows.

For some inexplicable reason, there are *no* Caps/Num/scroll lock indicator lights on the keyboard like there are on the corded version. Don't know if Caps/Num lock status is indicated in some way by a taskbar applet in Windows, but the only way to tell Caps/Num lock status is to start typing.

The keyboard uses 2 AA batteries, but unlike the mouse, can't be recharged via USB/wall wart. This would have been a nice addition to the keyboard and made it more convenient to use rechargeable AA batteries in the keyboard.

The mouse has a nice feel to it, and the mouse wheel can be switched between hyperscrolling and click scrolling modes with a push of a button. The mouse uses 1 AA rechargeable battery, and can be charged via USB or wall wart via the micro-USB connector. At close to 170g, the mouse may feel a little on the hefty side to some.

The USB receiver I have plugged in to the back of my computer and about 2'-3' away from the mouse/keyboard. Haven't experienced any reception problems so far.

Ordered this Combo after getting a Intel I7 with Window 7 gaming system. I was disappointed not receiving the USB desktop extension. The description on Amazon.com is a little misleading. The box did not indicate the extension was included. I almost return the item but decided to get it a try.

Installation was very easy with Window7. Pretty much plug in and play. Keyboard comes with 2 alkaline batteries and mouse comes with a Eneloop rechargeable battery and both are ready to use. Window 7 recognized the keyboard and mouse without any problem. I have the computer about 8-9 ft away and got the USB plugged in the rear of the computer and have no problem with the signal. This is probably because the batteries are new.

Keyboard and mouse are very comfortable to use. But the short cut buttons are not fully compatible with Window 7. Media Center button actually crashed the OS and computer rebooted. Media player buttons are great, which removes the hassle of using the mouse. I will see if I can find a updated driver that help resolve the button problem. This is the only reason I gave a 4 star rating. Will update review in a few days.

88.) Works fine on Macs, but designed for PCs -- the keyboard is excellent, mouse is fidgety
Reviewed by: film lover, philosophy professor Florida

I had been using an earlier release of this wireless keyboard/mouse combo (Logitech Cordless Wave Desktop) for several months and was very excited to try out the new functionality of the "Pro" version. Unfortunately most of what is new in this version is, so far, not compatible with my desktop Mac.

The keyboard is almost identical, and works just fine with my Mac. In fact it seems to work better -- is more responsive. I think this has to do with the USB "antenna" device. On the older version you had to plug a cord into a USB plug on your computer and then place a receiver somewhere on your desk so it could pick up the signal. Now there is a very small USB receiver that is about the size of a small thumb drive, and it remains out of sight but seems to pick up the signal from the keyboard and mouse even better than the older version.

Like the older version, the keyboard works directly out of the box, as soon as the receiver is plugged in and the keyboard is turned on. There are several functions already programmed in -- I especially like the fact that there are buttons on top of the keyboard that allow me to control iTunes directly -- play, pause, volume up/down, mute, forward track, stop. All I have to do is hit the play button and iTunes opens and plays the next track. Very cool. Other useful buttons include the "zoom" that increases font size on whatever document/web page is open at the moment. There are several function buttons that can also be customized in System Preferences.

The mouse seems to work fine, but I have a few complaints about this version over the older one. The older one was ambidextrous and I liked that -- this one is a right handed mouse, and I happen to be left handed. I still usually use my right hand on the mouse, but I liked to be able to switch back and forth as convenient. The mouse is a bit fancier than the older one, with a button that allows the scroll wheel to go into free style roll or incremental roll (with little clicks) mode. There is also a button that allows you to make the mouse more or less sensitive on the fly. Finally, there is a "secret" thumb button that can be programmed for whatever function you like.

What I really don't like about the mouse is that the scroll wheel is fidgety. No matter how I scroll it, there is a bit of a "bump" when I stop. The page rolls and then does a little up and down bump as it slows down. I also find that it is not very "finessable." I've played with the adjustments in System Preferences and can't find a happy medium between slowing it down so I can move down a page line by line and having it accelerate so that when I want to I can move quickly. It's either or. I found that with the older mouse I was able to adjust it just how I like it.

What really sets this apart from the previous version -- what makes this "Pro" -- is the "Set Point" program that allows you to customize the functionality of the keyboard and the mouse for different programs. Unfortunately, for me at least, that program does not work for Macs.

I still love the keyboard -- and it works just fine for my Mac directly out of the box, with all of the buttons you'd expect on a Mac keyboard. I'm going to use a different mouse, though. And I can only hope that sometime soon they'll make the extras that go with this package available for Mac users.

I have been using this keyboard for a couple of weeks now and I think it is definitely worth the hundred plus dollar price tag. Not only is it really comfortable but it has a ton of cool features too.
Tons of keys that you can customize to open a web page, open an application, perform an action, or just about anything. Media keys are nice and work with other applications than just windows media player. It has a button that you can push and all your open applications will appear on your screen and you can just scroll through them.
The mouse is really cool too. You can switch between click scrolling and ... not click scrolling. This is awesome when you have really long documents or are using something that requires a lot of scrolling like iTunes. One good spin and I can go through like ten thousand songs in a couple of seconds. Also it has the forward and back buttons and the applications viewing button and stuff. It is nice to be able to zoom with the mouse too.
Good strong signal. I only charged my mouse a few minutes on the USB plug and I haven't had to charge it for a couple weeks and I use this thing all the time. On top of all of that it is just really comfortable and familiar unlike other ergonomic keyboards that you need to relearn how to type on.
Awesome keyboard, check it out. I would buy another one if this one were ever to go out of commission somehow.

Rating:
This was purchased as part of a new custom rig, and I haven't regretted it for a second. The keyboard is more comfortable than a typical stock keyboard, and the mouse feels very natural. It also seems to maintain a very solid connection with the wireless receiver, feeling like a wired mouse, though I don't know the full range of that since I keep the receiver just inches away from both. Every once in a while the keyboard will need to catch up a few keystrokes, but at ~100 wpm I almost expect to see the limitations of wireless, no matter how seldom they're noticeable. Also, the SetPoint program seems to think that the mouse's battery is low, even though I've had the thing for about a month, and the battery life on the mouse is supposed to be 6 months... Seems a little strange to me, but it's rechargeable so I'm not really too worried at this point. Sure, a couple nit-picky points showing that it's not perfect and they're the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, but it's still a solid 4 or 4.5, if partial stars were possible. All in all, a solid purchase I think.

I write this review after having been using this for the last 1 hour! with my Macbook Pro.

Compatability : I read many reviews as how many had/still have difficulty in making this work for Mac.
But, this works with Mac, for sure. For me it worked right out of the box.

While the driver CD has drivers only for Windows (what a shame, particularly when you the apple button),
my case is slightly different. I've Logitech Wave ( not Wave Pro ) at work and that's one reason I was
curious to get this for home.

Anyway, @ work when I got wave, the s/w driver that I had installed for the Logitech Control Center
(or the driver software) was 2.6.0 or the prior version, which was automatically upgraded to 2.6.0.
I read reviews that 2.7.0 disable Wave Pro to work for Mac. May be - but I was ready to downgrade
the driver.

But, I found that 2.6.0 is still active ( Application -> Utilities -> LCC Connection Utility App ->
Right Click -> Quick Look will tell the current version ) and so, this worked (partially to start
with) like a charm.

The weird thing was, several of buttons (Music, Calculator, Volumn Controls from the Mouse) just didn't
work "initially", but over time they just start to work by themselves. I still can't make the buttons
for iPhoto and Media Center work, hopefully they'll come alive in some time. Likewise, the keys on the
mouse defaulted to sensitivity +/- wouldn't work when I reconfigured them from Preferences, but they
also woke up after a while. Rest of the buttons/keys work great.

That's said, I wanted to get this mainly because its a very comfortable for the hands, particularly
if you're a fast typist. More than the keyboard, I love the mouse. Its a great fit for the hand. I've
also played with it before and it has amazingly smooth but super-fast acceleration.

In all, I'm happy that this worked for Mac and hopefully Logitech doesn't automatically update the software and break the usage.

I also found this link as a back to make it work for Mac - never had to try it... but good to know

Tried to configure the keys using the windows 7 set point software, but Logitech support was not terribly helpful. Was told that a 'tier 2' tech was going to contact me, but that never happened. So, until further notice my keyboard is less than perfect, may take some more effort before it works out.

I've used several Logitech keyboards in the past, and this one really does type better than my previous ones. It's very smooth, the keys are relatively quiet, and it feels good under the hands. I wasn't sure how the wave keyboard would be, but it's hardly even noticeable now.

The mouse also feels really good, despite the odd look, and the extra buttons are helpful in playing games. The black also matches my monitor, and wireless helps keep my desk looking clear.

My main problem with this was a bad connection between the wireless USB device, and the keyboard/mouse. My computer is on the floor next to my desk, so the device is probably 5 feet away from the back of the computer. This led to an inconsistent connection, so I had to buy a USB extender cable so that I could put the USB connection up next to my monitor.

After that issue was solved, though, the keyboard worked like a charm. If they'd included a usb extender cable to begin with, this would definitely be a 5 star review.

I had been looking for a wireless keyboard and mouse for my Mac, and despite Logitech's stated system requirements of Windows XP/Vista, I had a gut feeling that it would work with my Mac OS X machine since other supposedly non-Mac compatible Logitech devices work. Even better, I knew that Logitech had downloadable keyboard/mouse drivers for the Mac on its website, so I took the chance.

Right out of the box, both keyboard and mouse worked at their most basic level, without an installed driver. While the function keys weren't responsive, the keyboard itself worked like a charm, and the iTunes control buttons (volume, mute, pause, skip ahead and back) were especially welcome since I can now mute with a touch. The keys are much noisier, with a deeper push, than my Apple aluminum keyboard, but I figured I could get used to them since every keyboard has a different feel. I really like the wave shape, with keys in the middle higher than those near my pinkies; the positioning is comfortable except when I have to reach with my pinkies to the top, side keys.

And then I downloaded the Mac driver software, with its supposed ability to customize the function keys and mouse controls. That's when I got really excited. Imagine starting up email or MS Word with a key stroke. (Yes, I use my Dock for these; however, I liked the idea of them also on my keyboard.) I designated all my applications/functions, restarted my computer, and then tried out the configuration. Nothing. I checked my System Preferences to see if I had done something wrong, but no, my settings were intact. Thank goodness the CD/DVD eject button works, but none of the customizable function keys do. Since Logitech provides Mac driver software for the Wave that shows up in the Systems Preferences area, there's no excuse for this bug. On Windows Vista, this keyboard works well, with complete functionality once the software is installed.

The next problem is the mouse, which is designed for right-handed users only. I'm a lefty who is used to adjusting to a largely right-handed world, so I didn't worry about the right-handed ergonomics-- until my fingers kept minimizing the windows because the design has (sensitive) control buttons located above where a righty's thumb would be but where a lefty wraps her hand. I went into Logitech's configuration software again to try to disable these buttons, but all I could do was change their function. The scroll wheel on the top can be set to smooth/fast scroll or the more jerky but precise slow scroll by pushing a small button on top of the mouse.

The wireless range is excellent. I can type from across the room without any problem (other than seeing the type, of course!)

The keyboard is fine for Mac users as long as you don't mind the unused function keys and its large, but still lightweight, size. I'm still undecided about the mouse; I first have to find the most innocuous function for the side ("thumb") buttons. For right-handed users who like deep buttons and who use XP/Vista, this keyboard is a no-brainer.

If you have bee putting off the decision to buy a cordless keyboard, it's time to lay it to rest and face your anxieties. It's time to spoil yourself, after all you deserve it. It's time to make the decision to go with the latest and greatest in ergonomic design and comfort.
Take a chance on this product, I'm sure you won't regret it. I didn't.

The keyboard was designed to make it easier on your hands when all the creative juices are flowing and the last thing on ones mind should be wrist pain. There is flow to this design, sleek texture and ease. Your hands never feel pressure while you type, your fingers are floating, your mind is absorbed by the thoughts that you try to convey on your screen, there is nothing to stop you from typing what you truly want to type.

The keyboard's palm rest is adjustable to three different positions. The one-touch hot keys on the keyboard allow access to various Windows Vista features like photo gallery, zoom and music. The F-keys can be pre-set to instantly open up favorite web sites, games from your PC, or frequently used folders. The LED battery indicators alert you when its time to change the batteries. So what's left? For you to make the decision to buy it.

Highly recommend.

I bought this keyboard under the assumption that the drivers would work from logitech because they had drivers for each of them separately, so together they should have it too right? Not the case. I spent a few hours figuring out that the Logitech Control Center that they use to manage all logitech devices on a mac doesn't have support for the wave pro set. I was starting to get really frustrated and pissed off. However, the main functionality I really wanted was to swap the apple key with the option key (because the default was wrong) and to put expose and spaces commands on my mouse. I discovered that I didn't need logitech's sucky software to do this at all, as you can manage them in system preferences. The tricky part is finding what button the mouse maps to what mouse button #. So here is the breakdown:
Button 1 => left click
Button 2 => right click
Button 9 => "DPI +"
Button 10 => "DPI -"
Button 4 => side button up
Button 5 => side button down
Button 6 => hidden thumb button

So 4 stars because the logitech drivers are no longer supported by mac (even though it doesn't say it is actually supported). Otherwise I got the combo to do what I want and no other complaints.

I downloaded the driver software from the logitech site ( even though the version provided with the installation disk is same as the one in the website.) and reinstalled it. the button started working. But i have to Press it really hard, when compared to the other 9 buttons on which needs just a feather touch. The Keyboard is simple the best. The Key strokes are not silent, but they are really responsive and smooth. The deciding factor on me purchasing this keyboard, as superficial as this is, was how attractive it looked. I love the layout, it's downright pretty, and the only bad thing I can come up with to say about it is the fact that it completely freaks out if you try to set the thing in your lap. It will start withholding characters you type, then if you set it back down on the desk, will try to catch up and repeat most of the characters a few extra times for good measure. There does not appear to be any sensor on the bottom, and even when it's in my lap, I'm within arm's reach of the wireless USB part that plugs into my desktop, yet it still does this. I guess the range on this thing really is just amazingly disappointing. I wouldn't suggest this for anyone who keeps their desktop to one side of their desk as I do, just for those who keep the desktop immediately under the desk where the laptop will be. I've had no problems at all with the mouse, and having one that recharges is fantastic. I've had it around 4 months now or so, and I've only had to charge the mouse with the cord TWICE!

I rated it slightly lower because I had the adapter inside of a heavy duty rack about 7 feet away and the wireless connection was a little choppy. I was able to put it in a USB hub that is close to the keyboard and mouse and it works great. I also like that the mouse has a wired USB connection/charger instead of a holder/charger. This way you can use it when the batteries get low. I have another wireless mouse that runs low and then I need to put it in the charger and not use it for a period of time which is not practical.

103.) best wireless near-ergonomic solution
Reviewed by: kovboi Norman, OK USA

If you've read all the reviews then you probably already know a great deal about this keyboard/mouse combo. I've been using a Microsoft natural 4000 keyboard for a long time. While I still prefer the split keyboard layout, I've been very happy with my logitech cordless wave pro. The layout is very comfortable and it only took about half a day to get used to typing on it. The keys are soft and quiet and the wrist rest is well positioned. In addition to using it for full time writing, I also use it for gaming and haven't had any connection or stuttering issues. My only beef with the keyboard is the limited number of programmable keys, though other keys are fairly easy to re-assign in the setpoint driver software. On the whole, this is the best compromise I've seen in a wireless keyboard between features and comfort.

As concerns the mouse, the MX 1100 is logitech's best mouse in a long, long time. It is not over-engineered (like the MX Revolution), and it features the hyper-fast scrolling that is impossible to do without once you've experienced it. It fits very comfortably in your palm (I prefer it to my old G5). The "hidden" button in the thumb rest can be extraordinarily convenient. I set mine to automatically search the web for highlighted words or phrases. The included rechargable battery seems to hold a charge for a long time (at least a week on full charge).

The mouse has some extremely useful features for gamers: (1) the top button switches between hyper-fast scrolling and click scrolling; (2) another button switches resolution on the fly; (3) a mini-USB port on the front to recharge the mouse (handy in a pinch if you don't have spare batteries).

On the downside, the mouse sometimes seems to lose connectivity for an instant. The receiver is on my desk, just a few feet in front so there's no interference problem. It might be a driver issue, however. It's a rare occurrence and doesn't happen enough to bother me, but twitch gamers probably won't be impressed. Another issue is that neither the mouse nor setpoint gives any warning when the battery's about to die - it just goes. Setpoint is supposed to warn you of this and perhaps this function will improve with future driver revisions. Finally, the "hidden" button is easy to hit accidentally when gaming which can switch you out of your game in windows, depending on how you've assigned it in setpoint.

As soon as I began using this desktop, I noticed I was having some rather bad reception issues. Frequent mouse and keyboard lags were very annoying. Placing the receiver within line-of-sight using a USB extender cable (which you need to buy separately) improved things a little, but not entirely. Similarly to another reviewer, I have an Antec Solo case which is quite heavily built and could possibly create interference. However, I eventually stumbled upon something that completely fixed my reception problems: I changed the broadcast frequency on my wireless router. Basically I was looking through my router settings for something irrelevant and noticed that the frequency it was broadcasting my network at was the same as the frequency that this Logitech desktop works on. All I did was change the broadcast frequency to one that was as far away from 2.4 GHz as possible, and the reception problems were gone.

Otherwise, this is an excellent desktop. The mouse is by far the best I have used, and the switchable mouse wheel is a really remarkable feature that I use constantly. The keyboard is also very nice, the media controls are very useful and the wrist rest is excellent. Overall a highly recommended product, as long as you have a way to ensure that there is no radio interference to create the reception problems that a lot of people seem to be having.

all the buttons are well placed, i love all the features, and the way your hand fits on it is nice but i think this mouse is just too big for my Taste. and anyone with small hands might NOT like this mouse. its probably designed for my average sized hands but i guess i prefer a smaller mouse. with this big mouse sometimes i need to move my arm to press the forward/back buttons. a slightly smaller mouse would be perfect. it would be nice if you could choose a smaller mouse.

SENSITIVITY:The mouse also doesn't seem as responsive as my Logictech VX Nano mouse. its not bad but it would be nice if it was better. it also controls well from 20 or so feet, but not from the other room. my nano works all over my house. you wouldn't need to use the mouse in the other room but its cool how powerful the nano is.

ZOOM BUTTON:also the zoom button(pressing the wheel) can be finicky. when i press the wheel in sometimes i click it in and click the left scroll which cancels the zoom. so i try to engage or disengage the zoom and i end up clicking a whole bunch of times and doing nothing, or zooming on accident. after awhile you get used to it and i dont do it very often, but it still happens.

overall the keyboard is great but the mouse my not be. trying to conserve usb ports, i use the mouse all the time and i like it but it could be better. people like me can get used to it and eventually like it but small hand people might have a tougher time. You get this keyboard and you stuck with this mouse(if you want to use one USB), itd be nice if they gave you an option.

My mouse would skip around quite a bit and the keyboard would miss keys or add extra letters when I plugged the receiver directly into the back of my computer. I'm not sure if this was due to the distance between the mouse and receiver or if it was interference from my wireless router that sat near my tower (they both use the 2.4GHz frequency). I have since gotten a USB extension cable and have the receiver sitting on the base of my monitor and both the mouse and keyboard work perfectly.

The key action is very good. The keys are not stiff, and the keyboard is actually quite quiet. The slightly padded hand rest is good. It could be softer, but it does still help quite a bit if you have to do a lot of research papers or reports for school or work, or both. The keyboard was surprisingly thin. The upgraded mouse is quite sleek looking with all of it's curves, and it's actually the first mouse that I find myself commonly using the extra buttons. My only complaint is that the keys and the mouse both seem better suited for folks with smaller hands. My fingers are long and big (I'm a 6'3" tall person). The mouse especially makes my hand feel cramped. All mice do, but this one seems a little worse. The keyboard's wave isn't something that has stood out to me... but maybe that's because my fingers are so long. Once I get used to the layout everything should be fine. Like the mouse, the keyboard has a lot of buttons that I'm actually using for the first time. All the other keyboard's that I've had with extra buttons never got the extra buttons used... they just weren't helpful for me. However, this keyboard's buttons have been very nice and helpful. Logitech has definitely put the user's actual usability processes into the creation of this keyboard, rather than just giving us something that is nice but not useful.

The mouse, on the other hand, is the most comfortable mouse I have ever used. It is perfectly balanced and sized for my hands. People with smaller hands, however, may find it a bit too difficult to use. The additional function & settings buttons on the mouse don't get in the way, either. I can't really tell you why but the MS version seems a little more comfortable.

However, I can control a lot from the buttons on the mouse & keyboard. Each button is customizable. All of the different buttons, on the logictech keyboard, integrate well with my laptop without any issue and that's a huge plus. The Wave Pro has a superb Logitech Collection of Buttons and Keys on the Keyboard, as well as the mouse, specifically designed for VISTA. The Mouse can function beautifully in XP, and the ENELOOP batteries have finally converted me to this version of the re-chargeable items for Computers. The Battery has a cord that allows for recharging of the mouse either by mains or by USB. And I would definitely recommend USB ( Nothing extra needed). The Keyboard comes with Regular batteries, and
I would suggest that you get a small USB recharger for the Double A batteries. The System runs on Logitech Setpoint ( a product that is near perfect for each of the units that Logitech associates with each different version of setpoint). In Vista, the Keyboard allows you to bring up 6 major functions, with many more pre-defined in applications, as well as function keys that are left open in their association. The Apps work with XP Pro, but you might have to fine tune the association, and the Function Keys can be easily re-associated anywhere.
The most painful aspect of this keyboard is that it is very hardware specific: the USB nature means that with any PC a few years old, if you boot up and leave the PC to start, you need to F1 the start since the hardware will expect a cable connection more than a mere transmitter. Other than that, its great. I love this keyboard. Not perfect right now, but all I need is a hardware upgrade.

The features of this keyboard have been exhaustively reviewed by others here so I won't delve too deeply into that. Instead, here are my personal reactions to the Wave Pro.

Firstly, let me just say that yes, it works with Apple computers despite not being rated thus on the box. This is probably because you cannot assign the function keys specific tasks. Otherwise, everything else seems to work fine and it will probably be addressed in a future version of the Logitech driver software. The "wave" style keyboard takes a little getting used to (especially coming from my low profile aluminum iMac keyboard) but it is quite ergonomic and grows on you quickly. Now I love it. The materials are quality and the tactile feel is rather pleasant. The special hot-keys on the keyboard are just awesome. I love being able to do things like open up the calculator with the touch of a button or control iTunes with a nice set of audio controls on the top edge. Innovative thinking. The precisely tracking mouse that comes with it is solid and topnotch as well. I like it better than most I've used and it is very ergonomic like the keyboard. But only if you are right-handed. The wireless system seems to work without a hitch, and the tiny USB receiver is a revelation.

Time for the cons.

1. No USB port on the keyboard. As a Mac user I've come to expect these and find it an inconvenience to have to plug in MP3 players, cameras or other peripherals around the back of my iMac. This is the biggest flaw I found but perhaps it is necessary because it is wireless.

2. The Function keys aren't programmable on the Mac. No big issue to me and as mentioned, it will probably be addressed down the road.

3. Key travel seems a bit long but that may be a personal bias. However, I've typed on keyboards that had a slightly better sense of feedback than this one.

4. The otherwise terrific mouse has a very imprecise scroll wheel. At first I liked it's ability to scroll very quickly down a long page, but after a while the final little hesitant page moves after I finished scrolling began to annoy me.

With anything so nice there are bound to be a few flaws and there are. But they don't keep me from heartily recommending the Wave Pro to any right hander that want to replace their stock keyboard with something much better. A great value for the duo.

I love nice looking, cushy, soft & comfortable matte plastic material they use on the mouse and keyboard wrist rest. The function buttons on the mouse are well placed, easy to access but not in the way so you push them accidentally. I love the extra programmable "stealth" button that by default it is set up to document flip. The mouse being rechargeable is a big plus.

The keyboard wave configuration did immediately reduce the wrist strain I was feeling when using a traditional keyboard. The programmable keys are so convenient, I love the one-touch access to frequently used programs and the sleep button.

The only potential con to this set up would be the durability of the keyboard. The feel of the keys on my year-old wave has degraded and I can hear a slight spring noise and vibration when using the space bar.
Still I would recommend and buy again.

I've been using cordless keyboard / mouse sets for a few years now. The Logitech Wave has one advantage over the ones I've used -- NO cords. Most cordless desktop sets do have a cord -- between the PC and the "station" that communicates with the keyboard and mouse. The keyboard and mouse didn't have a cord.

Instead of a corded station, the Wave uses a USB stick. This means taking up another USB port. Computers come with more USB ports -- but not everyone has many of them available with so many products coming out with USB connections.

I originally plugged the USB stick in the back of the CPU. I use the two front USB ports for my portable media. Having in the USB in the back put it further away from the keyboard and mouse. Thus, I was getting a lot of "ttttthhis whhhhennn III tyyppedd." It was annoying and wasted a lot of my time as I had to correct my typing.

Sometimes the keyboard and mouse would freak out and not do anything even with fresh batteries. The devices, so far, don't do a good job of proactively letting you know you're low on power. The F11 button has a battery indicator -- press FN and F11 and the battery light comes on the keyboard. Green means good. Red means bad.

There's also no way to lock the function key like my old keyboard did. This keyboard also has fewer buttons than my old one. I liked the one button click to open whatever I needed. This one requires FN+F key while the other didn't require the FN key for many of the frequently used buttons.

I like the rechargeable mouse. I had a mouse in the pass that could be recharged, but you couldn't use it while it's recharging. So, of course, you won't notice it stops working unless you're in the middle of working on it instead of at the end of the day. This one, you plug in and keep on using it while it recharges. Smart feature.

The mouse feels comfortable and has programmable buttons behind the wheel and three on the left side. I programmed them, and then when I hurt my thumb requiring a splint... I unintentionally made crazy things happen with my fat thumb. I gave these buttons a Keystroke Assignment and a blank in the assignment so they won't work. However, it would be better to have an "Off" option instead.

The keyboard has a nice soft material on the wrist rest that is as good as the one I had previously. The mouse also feels good in the hand though heavier than most mice.

SUMMARY
If I had no USB port in the front, I would probably have gone back to my old keyboard / mouse with the corded station. But it works better since I moved the USB stick from back (further away) to front (closer) albeit not without quirks.

PROS: No cords period. Rechargeable mouse that can still be used while charging. Keyboard requires only two batteries while past keyboards required four.

CONS: No option to lock function key. Fewer buttons available that don't require FN key to activate. Acts quirky at times even when battery isn't low.

129.) Needs a USB Extension Cable for Receiver
Reviewed by: David A. Lessnau USA
Rating:
This Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro is a combination of a cordless version of the Logitech Wave Keyboard and a single (rechargeable) battery version of the Logitech MX 1100 Cordless Laser Mouse (910-000718). In general, I'd have given it a 4 star ranking except for one thing: I had to buy a Cables To Go - 19018 - 2M USB A/A Extension Cable to stop the mouse from lagging/stuttering (just plain stopping for several seconds at a time). The problem could be a combination of the thumb-drive sized receiver for the keyboard/mouse and my steel Antec LifeStyle Solo ATX Quiet ATX Mini-Tower Case (Piano Black). The receiver plugs directly into a USB port instead of sitting on the desk with a cable extending to the USB port. For a laptop (or maybe a non-steel case), this shouldn't be a problem (in fact, it would be very convenient). But, in my setup, I'd lose the mouse connection repeatedly. Just using a foot-long USB extension cable so the receiver rested on top of my computer case got rid of most of the lagging. With the two meter extension, I've got the receiver on top of my desk (like the receiver for my old Logitech 967692-0403 Cordless Desktop Comfort Laser (Black) and haven't had any problems at all.

Regarding the keyboard part of this package, it's pretty good. Compared to my old keyboard, I find it a bit cramped. But, I think this is a function of my being used to the more separated hands of the pure ergonomic design. The wave design is better than a regular, straight design. But, not as good a real split-hand ergonomic keyboard. My only other complaint about it is a minor one: the palm rest is non-detachable (it's a soft, padded rubber, though). I had a micro-bead palm rest that was great. But, with the non-detachable nature of this keyboard, it's no longer really workable. One other thing to be aware of is that the two AA batteries that come with the keyboard are non-rechargeable (unlike the mouse's).

For the mouse, I've already mentioned the stuttering problem and my solution. The only other problem I have with it is that the Back and Forward buttons are a bit small and awkwardly placed (again, this could just be because I'm used to a different mouse). On the positive side, the mouse feet are great. My old mouse didn't slide well at all. On the very same surface, this one glides smoothly and easily. So, the mouse feels good and moves well. The next biggest positive would probably be the standard rechargeable AA battery (instead of a proprietary version -- and note that there's only one battery instead of the two that come with the stand-alone mouse). The set comes with a charger for the mouse. But, I'll just be using my standard battery charger and batteries instead. I also like the little button below the scroll wheel which converts the scroll wheel from free-spinning to click-spinning.

So, if it weren't for the receiver interference problem (which could be specific to my steel case setup), I'd have been happy to rate this set at a Very Good 4 stars out of 5. But, because of it, I'm dropping my rating by one to a Good 3 stars out of 5.

130.) Excellent ergonomic design, poor software

The ergonomic design is excellent for the keyboard and for the mouse as well. However, the driver (for MS Vista) that controls the mouse is terrible. The vertical scrolling is PAINFULLY slow, regardless of the scroll sensitivity setting (even at the highest). I did some research; apparently others are experiencing this as well. No fix is available from Logitech.

At a price tag around $100, I expect this to work flawlessly, so I returned it and exchanged it to the Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 4000. The ergonomics design is slightly below Logitech's, but it performs great, everything works as it should.

I am using this keyboard with my desktop PC and my CPU is on the floor below my desk.

I love the feel of this keyboard but I am very disappointed with the response. My mouse hangs up all the time. At first I thought was the battery running down but after charging, it still was the same. I am not a great typist (about 25 - 30 WPM) but the keyboard often lags behind . I am using an online typing class and it interupts my practice and testing all the time. I am planning on getting a USB extension cable and putting the receiver on my desk so it is closer. Hopefully it will solve the problem as others have mentioned. If not I will be looking for another keyboard that works like it should.

Thankfully Amazon has a great price on these and I got a $20 off coupon so it really was not that expensive.

If I was rating on comfort and design I would give it a 5 but with these issues I should really give it a 2 but I'll give it a 3 because of the feel.

However, I usually set my mouse to reverse the left and right click buttons to avoid repetitive motion injury with my right index finger. The mouse I have at home, which came with the Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave (not the Pro version) had reversible buttons. Even though one of the reviews for this mouse pointed out that it was a right-hand mouse, I didn't imagine that the buttons would not be reversible, but they aren't. The keyboard is great and mouse seems fine, but I won't be keeping it. The three stars is because there's no warning about the lack of customizability for this mouse. I also experience no wrist pains even after using it for hours. However, I can't give it a high rating simply because it fails miserably at its basic task: working. Even though I have my mouse and keyboard literally two and three feet away USB key, respectively, I still experience frequent outages where my mouse or keyboard stop responding for several seconds. If Logitech ever manages to fix this single, but critical issue, I'd easily give this product 4 stars.

I wrote a review for the original keyboard, the wired version. Bottom line? Loved it!

I was wanting a wireless keyboard and mouse, I figured the mouse might not be the best (based off reviews) but I was hoping!

Bottom line, this setup is one of the most comfortable setups you can buy, bad thing is the mouse will not track right. (more on this soon) meaning you try and click something, the mouse "lags" or skips, then you move past your target (frustrating if you're trying to check your email, about as bad as death when trying to play a video game!).

So if you want a cheap wireless keyboard and mouse to use while connected to your tv? you'll love it. That's why I'm keeping this for my PC. If you plan on using this as your MAIN keyboard and mouse? SKIP IT! FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT'S HOLY DO NOT BUY IT!!!!!!!

Long Review

The Keyboard.

This is a fantastic keyboard, I love the layout, the feel of the keys, everything. I think this is easily one of the most comfortable keyboards you can possibly own.

The palm rest feels amazing, and I just love this keyboard, so much so it KILLS ME to give this thing a bad review... but I must!

Cons: Half the time it's not responsive, meaning you try and press a button and it's not recognized. I play some games (was playing call of duty and battlefield), cant count the times I died because I just couldn't move. Couldn't jump, couldn't go left, couldn't do ANYTHING. Non responsive. I'm all of 6 inches from the wireless device, no love!

I had the usb stick on the back of my computer, that didn't go over well, put it on the top of my case... same problems. Put the keyboard right next to the usb dongle (put it on my desk) same problems!!!!!

Imagine this scenario...

You're playing a game, you got a 3 kill streak going (great if your using this keyboard / mouse!) then it happens, you spot this guy, you go after him, you start shooting, mouse acts up and starts lagging, you end up hitting the rock next to him, he sees you, starts shooting... you try and move out of the way... not happening... the keyboard becomes unresponsive and you just die!

Then you respawn, and you can't move! You just get killed! (Awesome right?!)

The Mouse

You thought the keyboard was bad? pffft I was being easy on it, heck I love it (compared to this pos)!

The Good.

Feels great, amazing in your hand, the usb charger is ac powered, meaning it takes no usb slots on your computer (good and bad) good because no extra slots getting used. Bad because you CANNOT make it wired. I thought if the wireless was bad I could always plug it in and use it as a wired mouse (like the Razer Mamba)... lol... silly me! It's wireless only!

Again the mouse is very comfortable, fits well in your hand, and you can use it all day (sadly I have for about a week!) But if the mouse doesn't track....

The Cons. (I could write a book here, but I'm going to show some restraint ;))

The tracking on this thing is horrible. I thought my old mouse pad was bad (razer gaming exact pad which I paid almost 50 bucks for), so I bought another gaming pad (a high end one (the razer megasoma) and no love. Same problems. Let me walk you through 2 typical scenarios!

Scenario 1 (general pc workflow)

You're listening to some music, you click to minimize the window (or heck maximize) and instead you end up clicking the close button, or accidentally moving something, (who knows... this thing is crazy!) I've accidentally moved stuff to folders because the mouse acts NUTS!

Scenario 2 (high end gaming workflow)

You're playing a game, you spot a "bad guy" and you zoom in to shoot him, you get ready to click the fire button and your mouse goes NUTS, the cursor jumps to the left or the right, or (even worse) you lock on and start shooting... he moves... but you can't move your mouse (nor zoom back out because the mouse hangs up!) This mouse is single handedly responsible for destroying my KDR in games (meaning how often you kill someone instead of being killed). (If you're thinking "hey why don't you move out of the way!" good idea... oooppps, forgot, the keyboard doesn't work! heck I'm having problems typing this! asdlajsdlaksjdald

In fact, the only thing this mouse is good for is knifing, and not even all that good either. I have the middle mouse button mapped as my knife, and sometimes I switch weapons instead of knifing (because of how sensitive the wheel is).

Simply put, you will get killed, owned, slapped, and possibly even banned, because of how HORRIBLE you will be if you use this mouse.

BOTTOM LINE:

4/5 For the person who wants to use this setup on their couch when using the tv with their desk. They just need to click on the web, play some causal games, or select the next movie on netflix or hulu. This will work fine, and is quite comfortable (if not a big large for those needs).

1/5 for anyone who plans on using the mouse and keyboard for day to day operations! (just now I was trying to hit "play again" in windows media player and accidentally started a game of battlefield! how can someone even make this stuff up!)

I don't know what the issue is, I think it has something to do with the wireless, but it does not work right.

I hooked up an old ancient keyboard and mouse and everything works fine, no issues at all.

I recommend this keyboard (but buy the wired version), and I can't recommend this mouse... heck it has even "shed" on my mouse pad (black stuff is on it). All in all a horrible combo.

What do I recommend instead? Here's my new setup!

Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard (Black)
Razer Mamba Wireless Gaming Laser Mouse 5600 DPI
Razer Megasoma Professional Gaming Mouse Mat

And if you want this keyboard in wired, get it by clicking this link:

Logitech Wave Keyboard

I love that keyboard, the only con is it's not illuminated (which makes it hard to use at night if you want to play a game or even use the computer in the dark).

Recommendation: Skip this keyboard mouse combo and use one of the above setups.

The reason this review is 2 stars is because it does have some use for those who want to use it on their couch, but for anyone else. SKIP IT!

139.) Good Design, TERRIBLE Execution
Reviewed by: A. Jeffery
Rating:
This product has a lot going for it. There are many features that I really, really like, however ALL OF THESE THINGS ARE MEANINGLESS because the wireless connectivity is severely unreliable. Both the keyboard and the mouse hesitate/skip/pause somewhat regularly. For the keyboard, this means that when typing, any input made to the keyboard will stop suddenly, staying unresponsive sometimes for as long as two to three seconds, and then when the wireless link is reestablished whatever you typed in those three seconds will spill across your work and usually with some extra characters thrown in or some missing, or both. So if you are a fast typist like me, you MUST stop typing when this happens, wait for it to re-link, correct whatever gibberish it types out by itself, then continue. If you don't watch the screen when typing, then you are in even more trouble as you won't notice when it drops the connection.

The mouse behaves similarly. Remember using the old mice with the track ball instead of the laser? Remember how, if the rollers tracking the movement of the ball got dirty, the mouse became erratic and you would need to clean the rollers? Well, using this (optical) mouse feels much the same way, except the solution is not so simple as cleaning the mouse. In fact, there is no solution. What is strange also is that it is not consistent in its malfunction. Meaning, one moment the mouse works great, then for the next 10 minutes it becomes downright unusable. Then it corrects itself until the next time it randomly decides to stop working. This happens a lot.

From reading reports and reviews on the Logitech message board and on sellers' sites, this is a COMMON, KNOWN PROBLEM likely related to the fact that the frequency this product uses is the same 2.4 ghz frequency as that used by wireless home networks and even cordless home telephones. How the Logitech engineers didn't realize this could be a problem is absolutely beyond me, but it renders this product useless.

140.) Great! When it works...
Reviewed by: Eric Nagel Buffalo, NY USA

I've been using this keyboard / mouse combo for about a week and, when it works, it's great. But when it doesn't work, well, it's useless. Sometimes, the keys in the lower-left of the keyboard fail (like, Shift, Alt, Windows, Control). I've found this out by failing to enter passwords properly (mixed uppercase & lowercase), having trouble alt-tabbing between open applications, and not being able to drop to my desktop via Windows-D all the time.

I started using this product with the given extension cradle, thereby placing the sensor for the keyboard & mouse within 3 feet of them, but whenever I used the cradle, Windows couldn't recognize it. So now I have the sensor plugged into the back of my computer, which I think is part of the problem. If the cradle worked as it should, maybe some of my problems would be solved.

The mouse is great - the only time I had a problem with it, I turned it over & a piece of lint was stuck in the laser opening. So I blew it out & it's still fine.

I just ordered a replacement keyboard (this time, wired). I'm going to keep the wireless mouse, though, as I like moving it from my keyboard drawer to the top of my desk.

Oh, and a fair warning: this keyboard is a monster! I barely have room for my mouse to go next to it on my keyboard drawer. The extra 2 inches taken up by the zoom and window flipping buttons (which I don't use) would be better suited as space for my mouse to move around.

I'm not happy with this purchase, and because of this, will avoid cordless / wireless keyboards in the future.

The Wave Pro was a disappointment to me when I first got it in June. I thought about sending it back, which is what I should have done. The quality is definitely not Logitech's usual. It has a very lightweight (translation: cheap!) feel to the touch of the keyboard with a very "klack klack klack" cheap annoying sound to it when I type. I decided that I would just have to get used to it as I have health issues which this keyboard may help and I wanted to give it a real try because of that.

Yesterday (just 31 days after I could return it) the mouse (which is nice) lost it's normal "ratcheting" sound and feel in the scroller, is now free spinning and I have very little control over it. On top of that, apparently I began typing to fast for they keyboard because I'm constantly having wait for it to catch up now and today it started typing additional letters when it finally starts moving again so I'm having to backspace and edit a lot. This started this past week and seemed to be getting worse e1very day.

I do not care at all for the usb cable that plugs into the mouse in order to recharge it. I much prefer the stand-alone units that you pop the mouse into when it's time to recharge. I guess I got spoiled with those.

I removed it from service and put a temporary keyboard/mouse in place. I can't use this and because it's a month past the return date, I guess I'm going to have to contact Logitech themselves. I will not buy another Wave Pro and am shocking at myself by actually considering a Microsoft set instead.

To me, it was a complete and utter shame to have a wireless keyboard and have a corded mouse (why the mouse could not be wireless, I don't know); and then to have an extremely short cord.

For those considering purchasing this keyboard and mouse combination, do home work to see if the extremely short mouse cord will take away from the usability of the product. Furthermore, while I didn't get to test it, the keyboard USB sensor appears to be better situated for laptops that need an external keyboard than desktops where you have a mini tower or tower that may be more than one foot away from the keyboard (my set up has the tower between 2 and 3 feet away) with a hard desk top separating the two).
