I am a heavy duty computer user. I game and also work at a computer. I literally wear the letters off the keys before the warranty runs out 8P This product is a fantastic deal for the buck. It has a really cool on screen display that tells you when you activate caps lock or number lock. It doesn't "stay on" it just flashes for a second. I was worried this feature would interfere with my gaming or other programs, but it actually is very bug-proof. The mouse is nice, good feel. I think the center wheel gives pretty decent precision between clicks. The keyboard has all the standard features you would find - the shortcut keys and battery indicator, ... but it's very compact. No giant wrist pad or other flash and bling that is not needed. I have been using the high priced Microsoft Laser keyboard/mouse bundle (double this one in price.) I got this one for work and I'm going to replace my Microsoft one at home with this one. The Microsoft bundle didn't even last six months. This one is much better all around, and with all the various programs I use? It givees me a LOT less hassles. Better signal strength, better form, easier software to configure, just seems like an all around better product. It's a keeper for the price!

When I bought this set I was specifically looking for a wireless set that could work across my living room. This does exactly that, I can use it from my sofa (11 feet as measured) without any problems, errors, or disconnections. Also the programmability is excellent. There are a number of customizable keys on the keyboard as well as fine tuning performance adjustments for the mouse (e.g. scroll speed, what each button does, etc.). I definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a set to span distances!

I looked at wireless desktops for a couple of weeks comparing options, prices and reviews. I was to say the least nervous about purchasing one due to the fluctuations in the prices and also the wide degree of differing opinions in the reviews (even for the same make and model). Never the less I ordered this desktop. I use it for work where I am on the computer typing reports and navigating web based reporting systems for at least 4-6 hours a day. This model works great. The only problem was initially hooking it up. For some reason it did not connect right away and I had to get one of my co-workers to fool around with it for about five minutes, and it has worked flawlessly ever since. After he was done he indicated that he did not know what I had done wrong because it connected for him right away. I like the fact that the mouse has a separate power button so I can turn it off when I am away from my desk (so as to conserve battery power). I have only had the product a week so I can not comment on Longevity, but as for initial performance I am extrememly happy with it. I feel it is a good choice for the price!

Most of my keyboards are Logitech. This Cordless Desktop LX310 is perfect for the laptop. I had been using the Logitech LX710 until I moved it to the main PC. Since I am unable to use the touchpad on the laptop, I needed another cordless desktop. Both the keyboard and the mouse on the LX310 are more compact and therefore much better suited to that application. I also appreciate the ability to turn off the mouse to conserve battery life.
Thanks for swift delivery from Amazon.

I bought this keyboard and mouse set based on the glowing reviews here on Amazon. The mouse is comfortable in your palm and the keyboard is very well-designed. It has a lot of very helpful integrated keys (shortcuts for Word, Help, Excel, Calculator, etc) in addition to the media keys. It was a very easy set-up. I also like the desktop display of Caps and Number lock.
Bottom line: Worth the extra couple of bucks over the cheaper Logitech set

This wireless keyboard and mouse combination replaced the corded versions that came with my desktop computer. I'm thrilled to be able to have less wires all over my very small desk and its also wonderful to be able to just move the keyboard out of the way when I need to.
I have the keyboard and mouse quite close to the receiver, so I can't really comment on the range, but I haven't had a single problem yet. It was easy to set up and connected immediately.
The keyboard itself is a bit flatter than I'm used to, even with the feet extended, but I've gotten used to it quickly. The keys have a nice solid feel with just enough resistance. The letters on the keys are smaller than the letters on my old keyboard, but as a touch typist, this doesn't affect me. There's no light actually on the keyboard itself that would indicate the NumLock or Capslock; rather, the indicators are on the receiver. The keyboard will also flash a message on the screen if the caps lock key is pressed. The gray shortcut keys, while they look like they might be a bit cheaply made, work great as do the function keys. It is a joy to have music controls on the keyboard.
I like the mouse as well. It comes with batteries. It is much more precise and easier to use than my old optical mouse. The whole set up will work without installing the software, but the software makes it possible to program both the mouse and keyboard to perform specific functions.
(One small piece of advice: I recently had to try to change some BIOS settings on my computer. To do so, one has to press one of the F keys (like F2 or F12 or something) during startup to get into the BIOS. A wireless keyboard can't connect quickly enough in order to be able to do this. If you are going to need to change BIOS settings, keep a corded keyboard handy.)
Overall, I'm really happy with this and would recommend it to anyone.

I love this product! I have not used all of the features on the keyboard yet, but the typing is smooth, and all of the basics are there. I have small hands, so even though it is somewhat compact, it fits me perfectly. Having no cords is awesome! The mouse is also great. I have three kids, and one is a ten month old, so someone is always on my lap. The mouse works great on almost any surface, even my leg when I need to back away from the desk and I absolutely love the page back button directly on the mouse. It was a little wierd to get used to at first, but now I use it all of the time. What an incredible product for the price!! The mouse and keyboard both seem very durable.

I bought Logitech Cordless Desktop LX310 Laser because it was much cheaper than the Dell equivalent or Microsoft. I got it refurbished for about twenty dollars.
It's easy to install and to use. You do not have to do a full install, but the full install doesn't take up a large amount of space.
The mouse and the keyboard do not have to be easily aimed at the signal receptor. Also the receptor doesn't have to be visible for the signal to reach.
It works great. I highly highly recommend it.

This is definitely a great product. At first I was very skeptical after reading the other Amazon reviews. There are a lot of comments stating that the mouse is very small and uncomfortable for people with long fingers, but I disagree.
I am 6'5 so you can imagine that my fingers are rather long and I have no problems with the mouse. It's very comfortable!
No problems with the keyboard. Absolutely love the feel of the keys and the shortcut keys everywhere make life soo much easier (especially the calculator and back button).
The only thing I dislike is the back and forward buttons on the mouse. I'm used to having those buttons thumb accessible so it's rather weird having it on the top but its easy to access (maybe because of my long fingers). I'm sure it's all about getting used to it.
The receiver is great, small and great range. I have it tucked down next to my CPU. It has some nice LED lights to let you know when CAPS and NUM lock are on but I don't really care for them.
The battery life is definitely poor after extensive use. About 2 months (sometimes less) and the 2 double A's are dead. I tested them with my voltmeter and they still have juice in them, so I usually just heat them up a bit with a fingers, and gives me another 2-3 weeks of use until they are completely dead. Battery life is pathetic for sure, but double A's are sooo cheap now that there's nothing to complain about.
All in all, a recommended buy. Also try to buy it used. I got it $20 cheaper and it's in perfect condition except for the fact that it wasn't in the manufacture's boxing but I don't care about that.

To the guy that complained about no scroll lock, it's time to get with the 21st century, most people don't use scroll lock anymore. Mac computers don't even have them on the keyboards. I've used this keyboard since 2005, and I JUST realized it has no scroll lock. I host a radio show, produce 3 others, edit audio and video, do extensive web design and development, program applications, and do graphic arts. Never caused a problem for me. Sometimes the keyboard skips a few keys, no problem, just adjust the keyboard a slight bit, maybe reconnect it for a second, and it's all fixed up.
Years ago when I bought this, they gave me a really cheap mouse with it, I would recommend replacing that mouse. However now they give you a higher quality mouse with an on/off switch that is quite nice. This package is a steal. Let's just put it this way, I spend a lot of time on a computer, and this keyboard and mouse have yet to let me down (mainly the keyboard, I have an MX revolution mouse). Over the last few years, the keyboard has been thrown, slammed, beaten, drawn on, abused in all different ways, and even the keys are wearing off from such vigorous usage. The keyboard works just as well as it did the day I got it, and it's got chips missing from it, the legs are snapped off, etc. I don't need to go on preaching. I would recommend Logitech products to anybody after using this set.
Don't read any further, if you're in need of a keyboard (or a mouse), buy this now, I promise you will not regret it.
If anybody has questions about it, I'd be more than happy to answer, so go ahead and comment on this and I'll reply when I get a chance. Happy shopping!

I'm a tax accountant and do a lot of keyboarding, so I needed a keyboard that I could use for extended periods without tiring my wrists or fingers. This keyboard is unbelievably comfortable, with exactly the right level of tactile response and with keys that are spaced to reduce the chance of hitting the wrong key if you are "touch typing". It has made me much more efficient and less tired during long stretches of work. The mouse is equally well-designed, with a responsive scroll wheel and perfectly curved shape to fit my hand without straining. The mouse is heavy, but so well balanced that I rarely have to pick it up. The furthest I move the keyboard from the transmitter is about 4 feet, so I can't speak to its long-distance capabilities, but in the 6 weeks that I've used this set I have never felt any wrist or hand strain, which makes it perfect as far as I'm concerned.

Keyboard and mouse combo look great and work just as good. The keyboard feels light and the curvature of the keys make typing very comfortable however it would be ever better with a palm rest. The mouse's shape makes for comfortable usage as well. However the keyboard does not feel as comfortable on the lap as my Rocketfish bluetooth keyboard does partially because it slides around too much and its lightness makes it feel as though it is ready to fall at any time. Not a huge deal, but I probably won't be using this keyboard off my desk much. Also the mouse's center button is tough to press and often causes me to have the wheel tilt instead of pressing down. The receiver looks just as beautiful on my desk as the keyboard itself and never seems out of place on my desk. Also the lights showing the lock status is pleasing because the LEDs are bright enough to be quickly located even in dark rooms but not blinding like some wired keyboards tend to be.

Initial installation sent me 'around the bend' a little, because the USB drivers aren't loaded until after the OS boots, unless you change the loading priority in SETUP. The mouse is accurate and quick. This is my first cordless mouse; I am still adjusting to the extra weight from the batteries. Also, I have to remember turn off the mouse to save batteries - on the second set already.

This is a great keyboard and mouse combo. Here are some things I didn't see in other reviews and are not in the description:
1) The left and right mouse buttons are fairly stiff - meaning you have to push them with some effort. Maybe this will improve as the mouse is used more, but out of the box, I find myself having to re-click things I think I already clicked once
2) The left side of the keyboard has back and stop keys. The top left of the keyboard has media player controls (play, pause, stop, rev, fwd). Top right has, in order, mute, vol down, vol up, email, web, calculator.
3) The keyboard buttons are a bit mushy, but I like that.
4) The keyboard is full size, but doesn't take up a ton of desk real estate with extra surface area.
5) The photo on the Amazon page shows the receiver with a USB pass through - mine looks completely different from the photo - there is no USB pass-through.
6) The mouse is thin, so if you want something more substantial you might not be happy.
Overall, I really like this combo and it has the typical quality you would expect from Logitech. (I am a fan of their products.) The software CD add some nice customization, and has web update features.

This set was working wonderfully until I positioned my keyboard at an angle....and suddenly the same problem started occurring! The keyboard would not respond to my typing. But, luckily, I put 2 & 2 together and realized the problem was that the keyboard was no longer directly facing the connector, despite the fact that it was only a foot away, but, it was off to the side. So, my final analysis is that this keyboard/mouse set works wonderfully when the connector is right there in front of them. But, this is definitely not for users who like taking their keyboard over to the couch or something.

The new mouse is very good. Feels sturdy and accurate. The buttons can all be reassigned. The scroll wheel has detents, unlike many MS mice.
The Keyboard is decent. I like the extra buttons/functions, such as calculator, mute, and the ability to open Excel, Word, and PP with one keystroke. However, the keys seem recessed compared to my old Dell keyboard, and even with the front legs extended, the keyboard sits too flat. The feel of the keys will take some getting used to, but I've already placed a slim book under the front of the keyboard to give it more elevation. Key response has been very good so far.
I give the mouse a "5" and the keyboard a "3.5".

I bought this keyboard and mouse combo for my wife and she absolutley loves it. I like the extra function keys that you can setup with the default applications or customized to open your desired application. It delivers what it promised as far as feature is concerned. It is very easy to setup even people with very little computer knowledge can install it. It commnicates very easily the receiver. It offers less wire clutter if you have a very limited table space. I have nothing but good things to say about this keyboard/mouse combo. If there is one thing i will change though, it would definitely be its:
ERGONOMICS. This would be the perfect keyboard for me if it is ergonomically designed correctly. I normally use a work mandated goldtouch split keyboard and the split design feature works best for me (ergonomically speaking). The Logitech CD LX310 laser would be nice it the keyboard is split. Split design means that you can adjust the position of the keyboard base on the unique natural/neutral position/contours of your hand. I find curve or split design keyboard less stressful to my hand regardless if I use a keyboard for a short time or for 3+ hours.
Then again I'm not the one using it and she has a much different preference than I am. Keyboards, I think should be based on how comfortable it feels to you, other features are just bells and whistles but I quite like this one's bells and whistles.
67.) Logitech losing logic?
Reviewed by: jetpower United States
Rating:
Having enjoyed Logitech keyboards and mice for well over a decade, and continuing to specify and install them in the corporate setting, I have to wonder what may have happened to their design principles as shown by the current keyboard offerings. The LX310 is a perfect example.
Please understand - the LX310 is fine - if you need full-size keys in a slightly limited space (it's not compact), if you don't do a lot of page navigation (the 2-column Insert/Home/PageUp key setup is workable but non-intuitive), if you don't use the real function keys (The F1-12 keys are marginalized on the LX-310) and if you like to hear your keys when you type.
If you prefer full-size function keys, logical (standard, 3-column) page navigation key arrangement, a standard-size mouse and a little quietude from your keys when you type, the LX310 is not your input partner.
Further, a close review of Logitech's current wireless and wired offerings drove me to replace my newly-dead motherboard with one that accommodates my old (PS/2) Logitech Cordless Freedom Optical Mouse and Keyboard (LCFO)- because NO new Logitech keyboards - AT ANY PRICE - are as well-designed as that one.
While I'm a bit embarrassed to be ranting, Logitech used to be well-known for enabling the most creative and ergonomically-savvy design teams to savage competitors with uniquely obvious ingenuity in easy-to-use keyboards. Not one of their current keyboards offers anything close to the ease of use and wealth of utility brought by the LCFO - great touch, quiet keys, utility keys identifiable by shape, truly one-touch volume control, left-side screen scrolling - the list goes on. It's enough to drive one to Microsoft! I'm glad I have two LCFOs - and relieved that they're still available.
All Logitech had to do was to shrink the lateral footprint a smidgeon; instead, Logitech's design management shrank the value. I'm still giving the LX310 three stars, because it is adequate for modest needs.
Again, my apologies for complaining, Logitech - you've done so well before; now that you've got the media controller stabilized, it's high time to regain the keyboard/mouse sector.

Reviewed by: Ol' Jalopy Reviewsville, Florida
Rating:
Overall, this is a great mouse/keyboard combo. I really like the way they set up the delete and home/end keys, and moved the insert key away from that cluster (never really use it). The keystrokes are solid, though it seems to be a little slow on the rebound compared to other keyboards I've used which has reduced my typing speed somewhat, but still very nice feeling.
Where this combo falls short is the mouse. The buttons are set up nicely; they've moved the forward and backward buttons away from the side of the mouse, where any ordinary person would frequently push them by accident, and moved them by the mouse wheel. This creates a separate issue where now they are somewhat inconvenient to push, and I find myself accidentally pushing one of the main two mouse buttons in tandem with the back and forward buttons.
Ultimately, the deal breaker for the mouse is the mouse wheel. I use a mousing paradigm where the mouse wheel click (middle mouse button) is used to open up web links in a new tab, and the left and right mouse button clicks are used as back and forward. The way this mouse wheel is set up is the middle wheel click is much too firm compared to the left and right wheel click. This leads to simultaneously clicking the middle wheel click and the left or right wheel click, which sends the current web page back one while opening a new tab. This has become extremely frustrating, and I have become hesitant to use the middle wheel click now because of it.
If you don't use the wheel click features, or only the middle wheel click, then this combo will be excellent for you. If you use the same mousing paradigm that I've explained, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

On to the bad things. As another reviewer said, it doesn't work beyond 6 feet. I originally bought it to use in the living room for watching movies on the PC, but it's worthless for that purpose unless I sit close to the computer. Also, it has to be in line of sight of the receiver since it's not RF.
After less than 6 months of use, the mouse is starting to flake out. The right button doesn't work consistently.
Finally, just as a matter of preference, I HATE the way the Home, End, Del... button group is laid out!! I use these buttons all the time and they're not consistent with traditional keyboards, so I'm constantly hitting the wrong keys.

I have always had good luck with Logitech products in the past, so I felt confident making this purchase. It was very easy to set up and install - required less than 5 minutes and successfully connected. Unfortunately, the keyboard is poorly manufactured, and the plastic is warped enough that it will not properly balance on my desk surface, casuing it to wobble horribly as I type. I also do not like the arrangement of the delete/up/down keys, as they are non-standard and hard to adjust to when you also use keyboards on other units. Finally, the blue markings on the function keys are very hard to read unless you peer directly over them. The mouse works and fits in the hand comfortably, but the controls are somewhat cramped - maybe 4 stars if the mouse were rated alone.

First of all I would like to say that I am currently using this keyboard and mouse as I write this, and there are things that I like and don't like about this set.
When I first set up the system I thought everything was really nice. I came off of a really cheap set of off-brand wireless set up. The mouse worked on more surfaces than my old mouse and the side scrolling wheel on the new mouse was quite handy. However, the forward and backward buttons on the mouse are not in the greatest location. It feels very awkward and difficult to reach the forward button. While I'm on the subject of key placement I have to mention the keyboard. They have included some extra buttons on the side of the keyboard that close out programs. This would be nice except I lift my keyboard onto my lap on that side, and I quite frequently found myself closing firefox and other programs on accident. After disabling the button in the options the problem disappeared. The delete, home, and end keys are set up differently than other keyboards and will take a while to get used to as well.
One thing I will mention about the mouse wheel is that it is nearly impossible to press the mouse wheel in without fiddling back and forth between the side scrolls. Fortunately the mouse is intuitive enough to cancel side scrolling when the mouse wheel is pushed in. I use the middle button to move around easily on my artwork in Gimp so this helps a lot.
I can live/get used to all of these little flaws, but there is one thing about this setup that makes it almost trash worthy. It has TERRIBLE lag. I bought this wireless set because it specifically stated that there was absolutely no lag...but it is quite the opposite. Playing games that need quick response times are impossible. I play a lot of Stepmania (a game requiring buttons to be pushed quickly with the beat of music) and there is at least .5 seconds of lag. I can no longer play this game. Even in typing this review I am getting lag from the keyboard. The receiver is literally about 6 inches from my keyboard and mouse, yet I still have lag issues.
I really wouldn't recommend this to anybody.

When I bought this, it seemed to be a perfect solution with such good reviews.
But boy what a disappointment -- the range for it to work in my living room is strictly limited to 6.5 feet, not one foot longer. This is always the case when I use the mouse on my glass coffee table(with mouse pad). The range becomes a bit longer if I move the mouse onto other surface or change to a different height, but that doesn't help me.
My guess is, its 27 MHz radio signal is very susceptible to the interference emitted from my 50 inches projection TV and/or home theater system, lacking the ability of adjusting signal strength makes this problem a show stopper.
It seems I need a 2.4GHz product (Logitech MX1100, Wave Pro, etc).
89.) A complete waste of my time

While many people may be happy with this product, I found it a totally useless waste. I do extensive work on Adobe Audition audio editing software, and in that program I rely on the mouse's autoscroll to precisely move in the audio waveform. Well, the Logitech mouse included with this package does not work in autoscroll in Audition, even after updating to the newest drivers. While it autoscrolls perfectly in Word, for example, it fails to do so in Audition. Some Logitech software will allow you to program mouse functions specific to an application, that is not the case here as the option is not available. Logitech tech support was a joke, with a suggestion to assign autoscroll to the center button as a solution (I made it clear in my question that I had done that, and the problem was application specific, something not the case with Microsoft's product). My wired Microsoft optical mouse has Intellipoint software that not only autoscrolls by default in Audition, but includes a custom option to set buttons specific to the application of your choice. I was looking for a wireless desktop package and thought Logitech would be the right move, I was wrong. I'll stick with Microsoft. If you're an Audition user, be forewarned, this Logitech product is not for you.
Adding a few point a day later....
I called Logitech this time and explained the situation, though I was not at the desktop with the unit at the time. Tech support said if I highlight the middle button I should be able to select "1a" and choose a program to associate to the mouse. Not so, there simply is no "1a" visible. I had told them it was an LX7 mouse, since that is what the software described it as, although on the mouse itself all I could find was "310." I wondered if this is a clone or "dumbed down" version not allowing the selection of an application to associate with the mouse. I never got a real answer. Once at the desktop itself I tried calling Logitech. I reached someone who said all tech reps were busy and for me to leave a number for them to call me back (yeah, sure they will), or to call back the next day. HA! By then I will have returned the product and vowed never to buy Logitech again.
I did get a response from a user on a tech forum related to the ap I was working with. He suggested not to install any drivers, but to use the standard XP drivers. Well, if I did that and did not install the "Setpoint" drivers with Logitech, then I would have no way to assign functions to the keyboard's special keys. Now I would be forced to have bought something and have to cripple its functions to make something else work. I don't think so. It's out of my life now, and should be out of yours, too, if you have needs similar to mine as to functionality.
